Preview: “Linear Empires” @ White Walls SF

White Walls has put together a show opening tonight in SF that feature artists whose work, across various mediums, play with ideas of symmetry, lines, and geometric design.  The show entitled Linear Empires will include artists Augustine Kofie, Geoff Campen, Diana Ruiz, Mary Iverson, Richard Pearse, Brendan Monroe and Gregory Ito. Get ready for the latest exhibition to hit SF’s Guerrero Gallery this Saturday. First is Ryan Wallace’s oddly titled (((Ω.))) show. The New York artist brings his signature works where the pieces literally curl off the canvas due to its unique Mylar layering. Opening tonight at Fecal Face Dot Gallery in San Francisco is Fish-Work, a showing of images from photographer and fisherman Corey Arnold. Pharrell Williams – “Velo” Bike for Domeau & Pérès

Creative artist extraordinaire Pharrell Williams brings you one of the freshest, cleanest, and most limited bikes you will ever have the chance of owning.  He teams up with Domeau & Pérès, who produced his first design work, the “Perspective Chairs”, and Brooklyn Machine Works, who produced the frame and fork (made out of 4130 chromemoly seamless airplane grade steel tubing).  It takes over 100 man hours to upholster the bike in water buffalo leather and all the stitching work is done by hand. Streets: Armsrock (Vienna)

Continuing his exploration of projection art (see his show and participation in the Lightsound Project in Copenhagen), Armsrock (interviewed) recently visited Vienna and illuminated selected walls and monuments with some of his drawings. The Danish artist has been in the Austrian capital immersed in the quartier21 artist-in-residence program and appears to be keeping busy before heading back home for various other projects and shows scheduled for the rest of the year. Releases: Aiko – “Lady Butterfly” Sculpture

Aiko Nakagawa just reported yesterday that her Lady Butterfly sculpture is nearing completion.  The complex piece produced by Tomenosuke Sho-ten requires assemblage of 13 little components and features elements of her iconic imagery. Inspired by her love for the Baroque sculptures she saw in Rome, Aiko describes her creation as “a fairy of the street… comes in the night and draws stories of love and romance with her spray paint.” Scheduled for release on Valentine’s Day, the limited figure will eventually be painted in five […]

POW WOW ‘ 11 / Streets: Angry Woebots & Ekundayo

It looks like the POW WOW preparations are already underway in Hawaii as late addition Ekundayo and Aaron Martin (Angry Woebots) get up on the walls of the FreshCafe / Loft in Space venue. The space will house all the live-painting, starting on the 16th, and main event on the 19th so hopefully we’ll be seeing more murals soon. More pics after the jump…

“Art Machine” @ The Hole Gallery & ALIFE

This Thursday, The Hole Gallery will host a brand new type of exhibition. Collaborating with NY’s fashion collective ALIFE, they’ll be showcasing art & items from various artists in a unique manner. Through the use of  vending Art Machines, attendees can purchase what they see via a credit card. Items will include mini paintings, sculptures, bearbricks, and G-Shock watches/apparel. For as little as $5 dollars for something cool, you should plan on getting there early as sales are first come first serve.
