Releases: Tomokazu Matsuyama x NSW x Medicom Bearbrick Pack

As hinted in our previous coverage of Tomokazu “Matsu” Matsuyama’s (interviewed) collaboration with Medicom, there is another surprise collaborator in this project: Nike. The unique artwork/pattern designed by Matsu for the Bearbrick project was utilized for a Nike Sportswear package which is coming out this month. This very limited set contains the medicom bearbrick (covered), a slick NSW Sportsman Jacket and a newly designed Nike Tekapo Slide Sandal. Openings: Kehinde Wiley x Puma – “Legends of Unity” World Cup Project @ Deitch Projects

Before the big Rosson Crow show opening (covered), Deitch Projects hosted Kehinde Wiley’s project with PUMA for several days on it’s tour stop before heading to China and Italy. If you remember, his paintings of World Cup players from Africa and related products celebrating the unity of the continent had made previous stops in Berlin and Paris. If you have been following artist Aurel Schmidt’s work, you may notice that she prefers to draw litter, debris, or ephemera that you could find in any trash bin or on the ground within a few steps of any busy city street. Take, for example, the above drawing. The piece hangs in Opening Ceremony’s Ace Hotel shop and now has been been used to create 11 t-shirts, each one containing a different letter from the original artwork. As we previously reported, Arkitip is putting out a special collaboration issue with Shepard Fairey andÂ the release is right around the corner. To celebrate theÂ launch of Issue 51 and all it’s Obey goodies, ALIFE is transforming their Hollywood retail location into a mini-gallery to host the release with Mr. Fairey. An artist duo that we have been following for a long time now, Kozyndan (Kozy & Dan) collaborated with PUMA on a clothing and shoe line a while back.Â Unfortunately, this turned out to be a Europe-only release and fans in the States never got a chance to snatch some of these items up…Â until now. Ryden x Nagi Noda

Although the fashion line was released a while back, we only recently saw the amazing ads for “Broken Label” – a collaboration between Mark Ryden and the late Japanese designer Nagi Noda. This line was sold through Colette in Paris and featured Ryden’s well known imagery.
