Currently showing at Gallery 1988 West is 20 Years Later, a group exhibition featuring artwork inspired by films from 1996. Cult films are certainly a subject that the Los Angeles showplace has delved into before (including last year’s 30 Years Later show). Openings / Interviews: Judy Chicago’s – “Sublime Environment” @ Art Los Angeles Contemporary

At this year’s Art Los Angeles Contemporary, visitors were greeted at the fair’s entrance with Judy Chicago’s dazzling performance installation, Sublime Environment. As part of Pacific Standard Time’s Performance and Public Art Festival, the large scale installation was created with 25 tons of dry ice, with help from the Silverlake non-profit, Materials & Applications, and a group of 40 volunteers. This past weekend, the second annual Art Los Angeles Contemporary took place at its newest location, The Barker Hanger.  LA’s best contemporary art fair featured work by established artists such as Barry McGee, Dan Attoe, Richard Jackson, Shepard Fairey and Ryan McGinness, as well as tons of emerging ones.  Participating were galleries from all over the world, including California, New York, Europe, and Asia.
