Streets: Banksy in San Francisco (Part II)

Looks like a second possible Banksy piece has been spotted in the Bay Area on Valencia Street with what looks to be an obvious reference to his Cop with Koons Dog stencil in LA that was stolen recently. So, it appears that Mr. B has hit up two out of the three cities in the U.S. where his film premiered (no love for New York?). Take a look at some more detailed shots after the jump of this piece as well as more shots of […]

Streets: Banksy in San Francisco?

Hmm, with the series of premieres already making it’s way across the nation for Banksy’s “Exit Through the Gift Shop” including LA (covered) and New York (covered), it’s only natural to assume that Banksy could easily whiz up the Cali coast to No Cal and hit up San Francisco. We got a tip from our friends at Warholian that this could be the latest piece from the masked bomber. Located in the Chinatown area, it looks very familiar… What do you think? Discuss Banksy here.

Preview: “Now’s The Time” @ Black Rat Projects

Next week, Black Rat Projects opens its doors to a comprehensive survey of street art spanning several decades of outdoor expression. Titled ‘Now’s the Time’ (running from April 22nd to May 20th), the show promises a chance to see many rare and never been seen before vintage works as well as more recent pieces by key artists including Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, Shepard Fairey (featured), Swoon (interviewed), Banksy, Barry Mcgee, Faile (featured) and Os Gemeos – pretty much a who’s who and what’s what of […]

Openings: Banksy – “Exit Through The Gift Shop” LA premiere

AM was lucky enough to be able to attend the Los Angeles premiere of Banksy’s “Exit Through The Gift Shop” earlier tonight at the historic Los Angeles Theatre. With the art community on high alert, the cavernous and exquisitely beautiful theater was filled (at least the first floor) with collectors, celebrities, pseudocelebrities, and knowledgeable street art fans. As we guessed in an earlier post, no expense was spared for this important opening with major media outlets on hand to witness the many installations on site […]

Streets: Banksy in LA (Part II)

As we suspected, Banksy wasn’t done with Los Angeles after the first stencil (security guard with Koons dog) he put up yesterday. Seen above is a newly discovered piece in downtown LA that is raising expectations for the special premiere of his documentary tonight in a secret location. As opposed to his premiere in NY (btw, we are giving a poster away in that article), the Bristol Bomber actually appears to be in town for this screening and by not announcing where it will be […]

Streets: Banksy in LA

As hoped for by Banksy fanantics who are stateside, the elusive street artist has officially landed. With the his documentary, “Exit Through The Gift Shop” premiering in New York (covered), and set to premiere in LA and SF, it was only a matter of time before Mr. B gifted his followers here with some street work (on La Brea & 4th). We’ll have more on the premieres and new stencils as they get up.  Another view after the jump…

Openings: Banksy – “Exit Through the Gift Shop” NYC Screening

On Thursday, AM attended the private screening of Banksy’s much anticipated documentary “Exit Through the Gift Shop in New York City. This early preview was hosted at the pimp Tribeca Grand and was made possible by renowned director Morgan Spurlock (Supersize Me & Where In The World Is Osama bin Laden?) who graciously hosted the screening. (See his collection here). The packed afterparty was hosted by our friends at Wooster Collective (who had a cool part in the actual movie). The film was everything we expected […]

Streets: Banksy & Robbo (Take 4)

By now, you all use be familiar with the Banksy and Robbo situation in Camden. It didn’t take long for Team Robbo to respond to the recent modifications to the four stencils at the canal by either some enterprising fans of the street artist or Mr. B himself. With one of the recent changes in an apparent response to a facebook image that Robbo’s crew found offensive, it’s no longer clear who all is involved in this fiasco as we are pretty sure that Banksy […]

Video: Banksy – “Exit Through the Gift Shop” New Trailer

With the imminent U.S. release of the much anticipated Banksy mockumentary, “Exit Through The Gift Shop” days away street art fans are being thrown a bone with this fantastic new extended trailer of the film. It looks like just the footage of other street artists like Swoon, Space Invader, André, and Shepard Fairey would be enough reason to check this film out, not to mention all the Banksy footage. Look to AM for coverage of all the special opening events in the days to come […]

Streets: Banksy Vs. Robbo Copycat?

Another turn of events in the Robbo and Banksy story was recently reported on Graffoto. It appears someone has again modified the four pieces by Banksy in Camden, but this time reversing much of what Robbo did. With Robbo recently escalating his “war” against other Banksy stencils outside of the Camden, there was speculation as to what Banksy’s response would be. With so much on his plate recently, and frankly, no need to respond to Robbo’s bravado, we are not sure Mr. B would take […]
