Video: Tonight’s Simpsons Episode Opening Storybooked and Directed by Banksy

Wow, how could something like this have been kept under wraps for so long? Guess it come with the territory. With one of the most closely guarded identities of all time for a street artist, Banksy must be used to keeping secrets. Take a look at this extended opening for the Simpsons that he storybooked and directed. Via Wooster Collective. Discuss Banksy here.

Streets: Banksy in Basque

With “Exit Through the Gift Shop” premiering in Basque Country at the International Film Festival of San Sebastian, it’s not surprising that Banksy fans were keeping their eyes out for stencils from the elusive street artist. Well, looks like one popped up with a man staring a randomly framed section of a painted wall, probably Mr. B’s poke at abstract art. If the man in this image looks familiar, you may remember him from Toronto. So, all signs point to this as being a Banksy […]

Video: ABOVE – “Because Now I’m Worth It”

When ABOVE (interviewed) spotted a sweet opportunity on the streets recently in the form of what looked like a frame on a public wall, many different options ran though his head. He finally settled on creating a piece as a play on the fact that Banksy’s street work gets taken so often by unscrupulous “collectors” and the irony of the fact that originally before Banksy’s mass appeal, he painted his popular rat image that read, “Because I’m worthless.” Read more ABOVE’s thoughts behind the piece […]

Streets: New Banksy x 3

Some new pieces from Banksy recently popped up on Wooster Collective yesterday at undisclosed locations although somewhere in the UK is a pretty good bet. Playing on some pretty classic themes we have come to expect from Mr. B, these street pieces with presumably no strings attached remind us of why we love the elusive street artist. More after the jump…

Banksy Goes Retail

For those who think Banksy went overboard with his tour of street pieces to promote his movie and the inevitable slew of haters out there, this latest news will definitely stir things up a little more. On the occasion of the DVD release of his “Exit Through the Gift Shop” documentary, Mr. B (to the surprise of the stores) had a total of three original pieces installed in a HMV outlet in London and Bristol. And for those getting any funny ideas (yes, you!), security […]

New Banksy Videos

Along with the batch of photographs Banksy posted of his new work on his website the other day, he also released two videos. One is a dolphin ride for kids, but modified with netting and barrel with a crude oil leak with typical Banksy humor.  Also, if you look carefully at the video after the jump, you may be seeing Mr. B. himself in disguise heckling Prince Charles.

Streets: More Banksy

Looks like Banksy has updated his website with some of his recent work, confirming the Hastings and Glastonbury pieces we previously reported on. What’s even more interesting are some previously unseen stencils that are revealed as well as some clever pranks & installation pieces on video (more on that later). More after the jump…

Streets: Banksy in Hastings?

A “Tesco Sand Castle” piece recently showed up that has strong possibilities as the newest Banksy piece in Hastings, a town on the coast of East Sussex in England. First off, the child shows some similarities to the postcard included with the limited edition “Exit Through The Gift Shop” DVD set. Second of all, some notables were in the area recently to celebrate Eine’s 40th birthday, so the timing seems to fit. Via the The Banksy Forum. Discuss Banksy here.

Streets: Banksy @ Glastonbury 2010

Glastonbury, the largest open-air music and performing arts festival in the world, opened last week in the UK. Along with a long and diverse list of music acts like the Pet Shop Boys, Snoop Dogg, Shakira, Norah Jones, Gorillaz, Mos Def, Stevie Wonder and Willie Nelson among many others, artists well known to us were on hand to throw up pieces all around the venue. One of these was none other than Banksy with this piece on the perimeter. More images after the jump…

Update: Banksy’s unique Nola print for The Rowdy Rooftop Burner Auction

Following the recent fire where graffiti artist Rowdy lost just about everything he had, the “Rooftop Burner Fund” benefit auction kicks off this week on the 24th of June. If you missed our interview with Rowdy last week you can catch it here and check out some background information, plus check details of the auction and images of some of the work generously donated by some of Rowdy’s friends and fellow artists on the organizer’s Steal from Work’s website. Sure to bring in lots of attention, the […]
