Yesterday, AM attended the private viewing of the Armory Art Show which officially kicked off a crazy week of art in New York. Similar to Basel Miami’s first look, many of the art world’s notable collectors queued up patiently for the clock to strike noon so they could pounce on their favorites at the the fair’s many quality galleries. It took us hours to run through and scan the booths to bring you a selection of images. Check it out after the jump.

Basel Week Miami ’11: Rubell Family Collection

One of the most prestigious private showings at Art Basel Miami Week every year is from the Rubell Family Collection. Openings: Barbara Kruger @ L&M Arts, Los Angeles

The last time Barbara Kruger had a solo exhibition in Los Angeles, it was for the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) in 1999.  Thanks to L&M Arts in Venice, Angelenos are once again able to immerse themselves in a one-woman show filled with her recent work. Consisting of a multi-channel video installation running 13 minutes, a room “wrap”, exterior wall projection, and room filled with smaller-sized text pieces on panel, the legendary conceptual artist provided a multitude of options to receive her messages and ideas.  […]

Basel Week Miami ’10 – Sprüth Magers

Sprüth Magers – based out of Berlin and London – certainly brought back to the states work by some of America’s best artists.  Their booth included a prominent sculpture by Sterling Ruby, a painting by artist-of-the-hour George Condo (whose paintings seemed to be everywhere at the fair this year), a photo by Cindy Sherman, a large text-based installation by Jenny Holzer, instantly-recognizable John Baldessari and Barbara Kruger pieces, and a painting by Jeff Koons.  See them for yourself after the jump… More after the jump…
