Last month in Berlin, the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Foundation’s Human Rights Award for 2011 was awarded to Khaled Said of Egypt and Slim Amamou of Tunisia. Said’s sister, Zahraa Kassem received the award on the late activist’s behalf at a ceremony that included the unveiling of a portrait created by Andreas von Chrzanowski (aka Case) on remnants of the Berlin Wall and will be eventually placed in the Freedom Park (covered). Case, who we last caught up with at the Outside/In show in Los Angeles, utilized his […]

Streets: Freedom Park (Berlin)

Artists, what would you give to paint on a piece of history? That’s exactly what happened recently in Germany as artists like Nunca, Miss Van, and McBess were asked to paint on remnants of the Berlin Wall like Chor Boogie did last year for the Stroke.03 Art Fair. This time, the pieces were organized together into a Freedom Park event organized by Dudes Factory and Lux Pop Art Group. More photos after the jump…

Stroke.03 Art Fair – Chor Boogie, Best Ever, Roa, and Alexandros Vasmoulakis

We’ve been receiving some pictures recently from artists who participated in this year’s Stroke Art Fair in Berlin or Stroke.03, so we thought we’d write something up. We won’t focus on the fair itself but just the associated murals. Perhaps the most famous one from this year was the piece seen above by Chor Boogie painted on a piece of the Berlin Wall that amazingly sold for €500,000 (read the whole story here). Other notable murals included pieces from Best Ever, Roa, and Alexandros Vasmoulakis […]
