Tonight in Portland, Antler Gallery will be opening a group show to benefit the National Audubon Society. Artists including Scott Listfield (seen above), Laura Ball, Jacub Gagnon, Vanessa Foley, Brin Levinson, Natalie Erickson, David Rice, Scott Musgrove, Mark Rogers, Christina Mrozik, Nick Sheehy, Miranda Meeks, Adam Batchelor, Sabrina Jackson, Susannah Kelly, Jon MacNair, Zoe Keller, Neil M. Perry, Audrey Pongracz, and Chris Valkov were asked to focus on either an extinct or an endangered species. More preview images below… Via Hi-Fructose.

Openings: Josh Keyes & Brin Levinson – “Reclamation of Nowhere” @ Antler Gallery

Last week, Josh Keyes (interviewed) returned to the Antler Gallery for a joint showing with Brin Levinson entitled Reclamation of Nowhere. Their imagery meshed nicely together with Keyes’ creatures interacting with what may be a post-apocalyptic urban landscape and Levinson working with the same nature versus man themes but with a different atmosphere. The show runs through the 26th of this month for those in Portland who want to stop by themselves for a look. Discuss Josh Keyes here.

The master curators at Antler Gallery have brought together 18 artists to not only raise money for the Audubon Society of Portland, but also put on a hell of an art show. AM recently brought you a preview of Antler Gallery’s Unnatural Histories II exhibition including the first look at the Josh Keyes‘ work in the group show. The concept of the exhibition called for each participating artist to create a natural history inspired portrait of a mythical creature. Here’s a show that a few people are looking forward to. Unnatural Histories II is the follow up to last year’s group exhibition at Portland’s Antler Gallery. Opening on 26th September, the exhibition calls for each participating artist to create a natural history inspired portrait of a mythical creature. The subject can either be taken from existing mythologies/folklore or completely invented by the artist. Breeze Block Gallery opened their huge group show Wider than a postcard (previewed) alongside the first solo show in their new gallery 2 space – olive47’s bonita bonita (featured) a couple of weeks back to a packed Portland crowd. Over 400 individual works went into the postcard show with 200 artists providing postcard sized works. The work was hung on the walls in grids of 24 cards, each echoing the aspect ratio of the individual works themselves as each work was 6×4 inches. The variance of work encompassed photography […]

On the back of his Space//Form group exhibition last year (covered), Arrested Motion’s Sven Davis is working with Breeze Block Gallery in Portland again on another huge group event entitled Wider than a postcard.
