Update: Camille Rose Garcia

Camille Rose Garcia (interviewed) recently posted about a new project she is working on – an illustration for something McSweeneys Publishing is involved in. Along with some in progress pics, she also announced that today at Noon (Pacific Time), she will be releasing some prints and items (on her webstore) found from organizing around her studio. Today at Noon (Pacific Time), Camille Rose Garcia (interviewed) will be releasing another hand-crafted plush on her webstore. The “Creamsicle” edition of her Winchester Hoot owl doll will be available in a classic, jumbo, and wee size and cost $25 – $80. Each ships with a mini info-booklet with story insert. Update: Camille Rose Garcia

If you have been following Camille Rose Garcia’s (interviewed) work closely, you will see that some clowns have been making it into her paintings. As evidence that the artistic spark and inspiration can come from anywhere, she recently revealed in her blog that some clown dolls (seen below) she bought on eBay (after her show at Michael Kohn) have been haunting her dreams and henceforth appeared in her imagery. Preview: “Lush Life Four” @ Roq La Rue

Tomorrow night at Roq La Rue, the fourth rendition of their Lush Life group show will open with a diverse mix of artists including Camille Rose Garcia, Chris Berens (above), Madeline Von Foerster, Travis Louie, Glenn Barr, Ti Kunkit, Seamus Conley, Annie Owens, Sam Wolfe Connolley, Laurie Lee Brom, Lindsey Carr, Jessica Joslin, Michael Alm, Handiedan, Peter Ferguson, Zoe Williams, and Eric Fortune (seen directly below). Last night, the Chinatown location of LeBasse Projects hosted Mixtape Los Angeles, a group show curated by by Jessicka Adams and Brian Wakil of Dark Dark Science with part of the proceeds going to Downtown Dog Rescue and Stray Cat Alliance.
