Saturday night, May 3rd, m|u|c|a (Munich Urban and Contemporary Art) will be presenting a new show from Case. Entitled Power of Movement, the exhibition features two repeating motifs – hands & pigeons, also often seen in the German street artist’s public works. It’s been a while since our last Streets: World Roundup so it’s time to revive the feature where we share a summary of some recent art from the streets. It’s time for another roundup of street art around the world that we didn’t have a chance to cover in-depth. First up is a mural from Case in Erfurt, Germany for the OQ Paint project. Utilizing the overlapping hand and finger imagery seen in his recent work (ie: New York), the Maclaim member created a special public work that fans in the city can enjoy for years. Streets: Case for Walltherapy (Rochester)

This last week brought new work from German street artist Case for the Wall Therapy event in Rochester, New York. Following up their 2012 rendition with even a stronger roster this year, the city was gifted many new pieces including two murals from the Maclaim crew member. Particularly stunning was the tribute seen above to Martin Luther King near Park & Colby featuring the colorful hand styles that he has been using recently in his walls. Another week, another Streets: World Roundup. For this edition, our headlining mural is from the Los Angeles-based Andrew Hem (interviewed). This latest piece located on the rooftops of Koreatown features a break dancing character painted with a background that is meant to blend in with the sky under certain conditions. This week’s look at public art around the world is headlined by this new piece (source) from Case (aka Andreas von Chrzanowski) in Frankfurt, Germany. Painted at the construction site for the future European Central Bank headquarters, the MaClaim crew member painted Pinnochio being manipulated by a pair of hands, making some sort of political statement. We lead off this week’s review of street art with a new mural from Roa in Puerto Rico. Painted for the Los Muros Hablan Festival, the Belgium-based muralist rendered a giant Iguana (an invasive pest there, chewing up plants and crops and burrowing under roads and dikes) holding a Coquí, a small frog endemic to the island.
