On June 15th, Thinkspace will be curating another show in the Bay Area at Heron Arts. LAX / SFO III will the the third iteration of the group show that asks artists from the New Contemporary Art movement to each contribute 12″ x 12″ pieces. On June 20, Jen Stark inaugural solo exhibition with the Joshua Liner Gallery will open in New York. Dimensionality features paintings, sculptures, installations, and a mural from the Los Angeles-based artist that highlight her mastery of seductive patterns and a vivid color gradients. As the title of her show suggests, she imbues her works with complex layers and rich textures, granting a sense of dimension to her pieces, of a prime example of which can be seen above. Releases: Aron Wiesenfeld – “The Bridge” Print

Based on a haunting painting from Aron Wiesenfeld’s recently closed show in Pasadena (covered), his latest print features a girl on a snow covered bridge midway between two worlds. The Bridge is time limited release and is available here now until 7:59 AM PDT on Friday, June 7th, never to be produced again. Measuring 22″ tall × 34″ wide, the print comes signed and numbered and costs $190. Head over here if you want to add it to your collection. Discuss Aron Wiesenfeld here.

Over the weekend, Tai Kwun Contemporary opened an expansive new show from Takashi Murakami entitled MURAKAMI vs MURAKAMI. Taking over all the galleries at the art center, the over 60 paintings and sculptures on display represent different facets of the Japanese artist versatile practice. Included in the exhibition are paintings that range from his his large-scale post-apocalyptic works to his optimistic flower pieces to his contemplative Enso works alongside sculptures, videos works, custom carpets & wallpapers. Josh Sperling Commissioned Wall Installation

Josh Sperling recently made a great case for living with art with a new installation featuring his signature geometric forms. The project was especially challenging because each squiggle was constructed to perfectly fit the 16 degree curve of the wall. The commissioned piece was apparently arranged by Sorry We’re Closed in Brussels and mirrors some of the large site specific wall hangings the New York-based artist creates for his exhibitions. Last weekend in Detroit, imagery from REVOK’s Spirograph & Tape Loops series enveloped a series of musical performances creating a truly immersive experience for the audience.
