Streets: RVA Street Art Festival (Part I)

Teaser: KAWS – “The Nature of Need” @ Galerie Perrotin (Hong Kong)

After Passing Through Hong Kong in 2010 with the debut of his now famous massive sitting companion which has now also travelled to New York, and Connecticut, KAWS will be giving his fans in Asia what they have been jonesing for – a solo show. Scheduled to open on May 15th at Galerie Perrotin, The Nature of Need will feature more of the New York based artist and designer’s colorful geometric abstractions. Preview: “Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me” @ Copro Gallery

As a followup to a similarly themed show last year, the Copro Gallery will be hosting Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me next Saturday, April 21st. Teasers: Hilary Pecis & Erin M. Riley – “Consensus” & “Forgotten in a File” @ Guerrero Gallery

This weekend, the Guerrero Gallery gallery will feature exhibitions from both Hilary Pecis and Erin M. Riley. Entitled Consensus, Pecis takes over 100 unaltered image files sourced from Google images to create her artistic compositions. Erin M. Riley presents a new body of work called Forgotten in a File featuring her signature woven tapestries exploring the lives of the internet generation with imagery depicting social media interaction and addiction. Showing: Gregory Euclide – “Nature Out There” @ Nevada Museum of Art

Currently at the Nevada Museum of Art, Gregory Euclide has a collection of works on display collectively entitled Nature Out There. Reminiscent of another artist regularly covered here on AM, Adam Neate (interviewed), Euclide has progressed his work to where there is an added dimensionality to the paintings he creates. Blending natural and found materials with his rendered scraps, the Minnesota-based artist creates encapsulated worlds where “pristine notions of landscape meet the reality of our current environment.” More photos after the jump…

Openings: Tessar Lo – “Past, Present, Past-Present” @ Cooper Cole

A couple weeks ago, the Cooper Cole Gallery held court for attendees of Tessar Lo’s newest solo show titled Past, Present, Past-Present. The new body of work included medium to large-scale pieces featuring dream-like abstract imagery centered on his boy & animal characters and painted with rich and lush colors.
