Last night, Ian Francis (featured) unveiled his latest body of work Fireland at Joshua Liner Gallery. Exhibiting in his first New York solo, Mr. Francis again knocked it out of park, clearly dazzling the Armory week crowd that attended. Ian’s paintings demonstrated why many around the world draw inspiration from his creations. Tonight, we get a special group show named Hueless from Malick Williams & Co. As the titled suggests, the goal of the show is the pull the traditional color palettes from everyone’s arsenal and challenge them to create works under a monochromatic direction. LeBasse Projects has been busy setting up a new gallery space at Chung King Road of LA’s Chinatown district, and now everything is set to go as they’ll officially launch the secondary location at the end of the month. Armory Week ’11: First Look at The Armory Show

New York is a lot of work… especially when the Armory is in town – the busiest week of art in North America after Basel Miami of course. We caught the VIP preview to bring you a detailed first look at the flagship Armory fair. You’ll definitely see many blue chip names, but to our delight we also found many new comers. Showing with Jonathan LeVine at the VOLTA satellite fair (also see Mark Jenkins & Richard Colman) at this year’s Armory Week will be Jim Houser. Judging from all the setup action we see, attendees can look forward to very nice installation which is typical for the Philadelphia-based artist (ie last year’s Subliminal Projects show). AM loves his quilt-like blocks of imagery and look forward to seeing new symbology added to his lexicon.

We last talked to Kris Lewis (interviewed) at last year’s Grammy group show which he co-curated and also in 2009 before his show at David B. Smith Gallery. Time flies as he’s scheduled again for a solo exhibition in May at the Colorado showspace with a new body of work; the piece above being the first piece we have seen. Streets: MOMO in London

Following a brief stint alongside Brad Downey and Vhils in Lisbon, Portugal as part of the ongoing and impressive Crono project (featured here and here), MOMO arranged a short stay in the UK before heading back earlier this week to his latest base in security-challenged New Orleans. For want of a more appropriate euphemism, it was an interesting few days at the AM London residence.
