Openings: COPE2 – “Resilient” @ Dorian Grey

Bronx street & graffiti artist COPE2 recently opened up a new show at New York’s Dorian Grey Gallery. After seeing his signature bubble tag style at recently at exhibitions & on the streets, we check COPE twisting it to bring a different look by focusing less on his famous tag for his indoor works and a little more on the street element with his aerosols. Check out all the opening night action below. Discuss COPE2 here. Photo credit: Joe Russo for Arrested Motion. Check out more from Joe […]

Streets: World Roundup (June 4 – June 10)

Our Streets: World Roundup feature returns this week with a summary of murals you may have missed out on. Our highlighted piece this time is this monster collaboration from REVOK and RIME of MSK fame for the Detroit Beautification Project. It almost makes AM want to take a trip to the much maligned Motor City to see all the walls for themselves, proof that the project is working. Other notable murals include work from: Jaz – France (source), Graphic Surgery (Poland), Remi/Rough (Melbourne), Dal East […]

Openings: “This Side of Paradise” @ Andrew Freedman House

What do you with a historic welfare housing complex (for the formerly rich) in the Bronx? Why not invite artists to come in and redo the rooms? That’s exactly what No Longer Empty did with the help and curation by Keith Schweitzer. In a project called This Side of Paradise, they invited artists such as Daze, Crash, How & Nosm, Cheryl Pope, Cope2 and many more to work on this landmark building and to create site specific interactive works that reflect the ups and downs of […]

Streets: RETNA x COPE2 (New York)

While in New York painting the iconic wall on the corner Bowery & Houston (covered), RETNA (featured) took some time collaborate with East Coast legend COPE2. Hitting up a wall together in the Bronx, COPE2’s signature bubble tags blended in nicely with RETNA’s calligraphic MSK stylings with what seemed to be matching colors. Check out more photos of the duo in action after the jump…

Streets: World Roundup (Dec 5 – Dec 11)

It’s the end of the week and again time for a summary of walls in our roundup. The beautiful piece you see above is from Aryz in Lisbon that was sponsored by the Montana Shop & Gallery. It appears that he also opened a small show there after just opening another show a couple weeks before in Spain (covered). Other murals after the jump include Gaia (London), Buff Monster & Lamour Supreme (Miami), Spidertag (Madrid), JAZ (Miami), Phlegm (UK), Cope2 (Miami), Otto Schade (London), Angry […]

Streets: World Roundup (Nov. 28 – Dec. 4)

This week’s world roundup of street work is heavily tilted towards Art Basel Week Miami. With so many artists in town, there was bound to be some overlap on walls and in some cases – collaborations. Not sure if the Buff Monster & COPE2 piece above was planned as a tag team effort, but they seem to fit nicely together. Also included from Miami is more from COPE2, Aiko, ABOVE, JAZ, Anthony Lister x Eine, Pixel Pancho. Other walls from other parts of the world […]

The show runs until September 30th, so stop by the LES to catch it. Check out the full set by Joe Russo  after the jump.

Openings: COPE2 – “World’s Famous Bubble!” @ Halvandet

Just last weekend, legendary Bronx writer COPE2 paid a visit to Copenhagen for the opening of his show at Halvandet. Not only did he bring a plethora of variations of his famous bubble tag, he also worked in an outdoor mural for his fans and was sighted at the Shepard Fairey show. Our photographer Henrik Haven arrived early to document the show.  Full photoset after the jump…

Streets: COPE2 (Copenhagen)

Copenhagen has been a pretty popular destination for international artists recently. After only recently been gifted multiple murals from Shepard Fairey’s (featured), who was in town for his solo show (covered), renowned graffiti king COPE2 arrived to paint his famous “bubble” tags on an adjacent wall next to one of Shep’s pieces. The South Bronx wildstyle legend is in town for his own exhibition at Halvandet (more on the opening later). More views of the mural thanks to Henrik Haven after the jump…
