We only caught of glimpse of noted “venture philanthropist” Eli Broad at the Art in the Streets opening a couple weeks ago, but apparently Morley Safer was able to spend more time time with him for the latest segment of 60 Minutes. The engaging interview touched on many topics including the self-made billionaire’s charitable goals and philosphies, his art collection, and the love-hate relationship the art community has with him.

Broad Musuem Design Revealed

The much talked about Broad Museum finally has an architectural design. This honeycombed building with a projected cost of $130 million is the brainchild of Diller, Scofidio + Renfro, a New York-based firm, and will feature 114,000 square feet of space spread over three stories. We will be definitely be looking forward to checking this and Eli Broad’s collection out when it opens in downtown LA. Via La Times.

Eli Broad, who is arguably known as the most powerful man in Los Angeles, revealed this week where he will build his museum, which will house the spectacular Broad Collection. It appears Los Angeles has now added themselves to the mix (joining Santa Monica and Beverly Hills) for possible locations of Eli Broad’s planned art museum.
