Previews: “Tiny Trifecta” 2015 @ The Cotton Candy Machine

This Saturday, June 6th, one of the most anticipated shows of the year from the Candy Cotton Machine, Tiny Trifecta, will be opening. Annually, the New York gallery puts together a roster of artist who each contribute three pieces of artwork that will sell for only $100. Be warned though as lines for long and early for first picks of the artwork like this exquisite piece from Eric Fortune (seen above). Check out a small sample below of what will be available this year from […]

POW! WOW! ’15 / Streets: Esao Andrews & Aaron Horkey

Arguably one of the best murals created at this year’s POW! WOW! Hawaii (more coverage here) and one of the most unusual and interesting collaborations was the one by Esao Andrews and Aaron Horkey. None of the artists are really known for their mural skills or even large scale works, so it was interesting to watch their talents pulling off one of the most detailed and exceptional pieces created. Painting on the facade of Fresh Cafe in Kaka’ako, this was Esao’s second ever mural he’s worked on, while […]

Recap: Esao Andrews – “Epilogues” @ Jonathan LeVine Gallery

Jonathan LeVine Gallery recently closed a successful solo show by Esao Andrews titled Epilogues. Being his second show with the gallery, the paintings continue and revisit the imagery from his previous exhibition and form a coherent body of work when taken together. Burnt hot air balloons, fabric patterns, flocks of crows, snakes, are just some of the recurring elements that can be noticed in more than one painting. The main focus of these pieces was the ongoing narrative in Andrew’s work, and a challenge to give some sort […]

Previews / Setup: “Masterworks: Defining A New Narrative” @ Long Beach Museum of Art

If there is anything that you would call a can’t miss exhibition, tonight’s Masterworks: Defining A New Narrative at the Long Beach Museum of Art would be one of them. Not only is the list of participating artists impressive – Esao Andrews, Sean Cheetham, Natalia Fabia, Alex Gross, James Jean (seen above), Josh Keyes, Mario Martinez, Greg Simkins, Nicola Verlato, Eric White, Aron Wiesenfeld, Martin Wittfooth and Curating Artist and Author Nathan Spoor and Co-curator Jeff McMillan – the fact that they were asked to create or put on display a large scale […]

Upcoming: Esao Andrews – “Epilogues” @ Jonathan LeVine Gallery

On October 11, Esao Andrews will be opening his second solo show (see 2010) with Jonathan LeVine Gallery in New York entitled Epilogues. The new body of work or work “explores allegorical scenes of homecomings, focusing on a journey’s end” and will feature conclusions to some of the narrative threads the Los Angeles-based artist has explored in the past with his dream-like paintings. Attendees of the exhibition will be impressed, like us, with his surreal artistic vision, often times dark and beautiful at the same […]
