Following in a long line of Sanrio themed group shows, the Hello Kitty 45th Anniversary Group Show opened last month at the Corey Helford Gallery in Los Angeles. Recap: POW! WOW! Long Beach 2018

POW! WOW! Long Beach finished up the public art for 2018 at the end of last month with another series of great murals and installations for fans of art in the Southern California city. For this year’s Life Is Beautiful arts and music festival, JUSTKIDS / Charlotte Dutoit once again put together a worthy roster to add their unique talents to the outdoor vistas of downtown Las Vegas. Streets / Recap: Urban Nation // Project M/9 (Berlin)

Continuing their longstanding public arts program, Urban Nation in Berlin recently completed their ninth edition – Project M/9. Curated by JUSTKIDS and StreetArtNews, the event this time hosted Borondo (seen above), Fafi, Bicicleta Sem Freio, Askew, 1010, and Eron as they painted walls in the capital city with “Colors” as the theme. POW! WOW! / SXSW ’16: Recap

Earlier this month, the POW! WOW! crew spent a second year (see 2015) at SXSW painting murals for festival goers to enjoy. Upcoming: POW! WOW! Long Beach

With the annual event in Hawaii expanding into SXSW this year and Taiwan last year, the POW! WOW! festival will finally hit the west coast on June 21-28. POW! WOW! Long Beach will feature a week of exhibitions, film screenings, talks and of course public murals. Participating in the street art will be Aaron De La Cruz, Benjie Escobar, Cryptik, Fafi, Hueman, James Jean, Jeff McMillan, Jeff Soto, Low Bros, Madsteez, Nychos, Push, and Tristan Eaton. POW! WOW! ’15 / Streets: Fafi

Legendary graffiti and street artist Fafi, attended this year’s POW! WOW! Hawaii (more coverage here) for the first time. Known for her playful & sexy female characters and colorful work she’s been creating for decades, she was inspired with Hawaii to create a more conceptual, installation style piece. She first painted two of her characters on a wooden panel, before cutting them out.
