At 10am on Monday, Feb 9th, the mural painting part of POW! WOW! Hawaii 2015 officially begun with a traditional Hawaiian blessing ceremony at the Lana Lane headquarters in Kaka’ako in Honolulu. Following up on some of the walls in-progress that we showed you last week for the Women on the Walls in Miami for Art Basel Week, we now have photos of some of the completed murals and work. Basel Week Miami ’13 / Streets: “Women on the Walls” (Wynwood) – Part I

For those street art fans down in Miami for Art Basel Week, you may want to head over to the Wynwood district for the new outdoor mural project. Women on the Walls features work by Aiko (seen above), Miss Van, Fafi, Maya Hayuk, Lady Pink, and Olek in the Wynwood Walls compound. Releases / Publications: Fafi – “The Carmine Vault” @ Nucleus Gallery

After a signing at Colette and Galerie LJ, Parisian-based artist Fafi will be hosting a book release party at Gallery Nucleus in Alhambra, California tomorrow night, April 16th. Along with the meet and greet, fans will be treated to mini-show of her new work as well as some limited edition items. The new publication, The Carmine Vault, is a graphic novel bringing the French graf legend’s world to life while following a character called Birtak and his desire to join the Paris Opéra Ballet. Openings: Fafi Pop Up @ Galerie L.J.

It looks like Parisians only have a few more days to visit Galerie L.J. if they want to catch the popup show from French street legend Fafi. The collection of new limited editions and other art products will close its doors to the public come June 22nd. We recently brought you coverage of Miss Van’s show in New York, but it looks like the other femme fatale of French street art also has something planned. Fafi, who is also able to claim graffiti roots from Toulouse starting in the 90s, will be hosting a pop-up show from June 14th to the 22nd at Galerie L.J. in Paris. If you recall, we recently showed you the mural that Ai Yamaguchi did for a Shu Uemura store in SF. Continuing on the trend of collaborations between artists and cosmetic companies, Marilyn Minter joins Fafi in promoting the brand MAC, with a campaign starting in August. ARTWALK Culver City: Thinkspace Gallery

Last weekend, Culver City hosted their ARTWALK 2009 event with over thirty galleries throughout the area participating. Thinkspace Gallery, located in the Silver Lake district, got in on the action as well, opening a one day pop-up gallery on Washington Blvd. Fans packed the rear gallery area throughout the day to see the live-painting demonstration by Asylm, Anthony Clarkson, Mear One, Michael Alvarez, Michael Pukac, Nathan DeYoung and Zoso.
