PortugalArte 10: Faile (Part 2)

It looks like Faile (featured) has completed the amazing cathedral-like installation in Lisbon for PortugalArte ‘10 that we first showed you teaser pics of here. The sheer size and detail of this project from the Brooklyn duo is nothing short of mindblowing, comparable to the immersive installations of Banksy. The seamless integration of their imagery as well as the craftsmanship of this art structure is pretty amazing. More detailed pics after the jump sent to us from Dflektor blog.

PortugalArte ’10: Faile (Part 1)

A “Bunny Boy” sculpture? Hell yes please! We can’t wait to see what Faile (featured) has up their sleeves for their fans in Portugal. As we hinted before in March, the Brooklyn street duo are in town for the PortugalArte ’10, Portugal’s new month-long biannual art exhibition and will be working on “the Cathedral Project, a giant sculptural installation in the heart of the city of Lisbon.” Not sure what to expect exactly from Faile this time around, but expect something fresh from the Patricks […]

Openings: “Shred” @ Perry Rubenstein

“Shred,” an exhibition curated by New York downtown art critic and Paper magazine editor Carlo McCormick, opened last Thursday night at Chelsea’s Perry Rubenstein Gallery. As the name implies, the show features collage-based art from a diverse group of artists, including Dash Snow, Elbow-Toe (interviewed), FAILE (featured), Shepard Fairey (featured), Mark Flood, Erik Foss, Swoon (interviewed) and Judith Supine. McCormick stretches the definition of “collage” to include mixed-media pieces and video/animation, which allows for a diverse body of work, and most likely, a more interesting […]

It looks like Faile (featured) has been getting back to their roots and getting up around New York after finishing their latest project – moving the Faile/Bast Deluxx Fluxx Arcade to the Big Apple (covered). By the way, if you haven’t had a chance to play with the custom arcade games designed by the artists as part of that epic install, check out this video footage from Dante Ross. For a closer look the the gender bending piece above, look after the jump, but for […]

Set to the background of Shepard Fairey’s intense “May Day” exhibition, the book launch for Gestalten’s “Beyond the Street: The 100 Leading Figures in Urban Art”, by Patrick Nguyen and Stuart Mackenzie, drew a veritable […]

Openings: “Now’s the Time” @ Black Rat Press

As we mentioned in our preview, Black Rat Projects opened their doors a while back to a pretty impressive collection of the street scene a couple weeks ago. Just like the “Thousands” show last year, this exhibition gave fans a chance to see all their favorite street artists (including Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, Shepard Fairey (featured), Swoon (interviewed), Banksy, Barry Mcgee, Faile (featured) and Os Gemeos) at the same time under one roof. Other than museum shows, this is probably the only way you can […]
