Recap: Void Project – “Homeless” Art Residency

Back in November, Void Projects organized their second Homeless art residency and group exhibition at artist Axel Void’s home in Miami. Roughly 15 artists from around the world were invited to stay in the house over a period of two weeks to eat, sleep, and create together. The idea of this year’s residency was to explore the concept of “home” from a political, social or personal viewpoint, based on cultural heritage, identity or patriotism. Faith 47 recently spent a few days painting in Durban, South Africa, as part of the cultural program of the 25th World Congress on Architecture, UIA2014 Durban. For this event, she will be painting six walls on four of the supporting columns of the main freeway overpass adjacent to the Early Morning Market in Warwick. Releases: Faith47 Zine & Screenprint

Faith47 is self releasing a collectible series of intimate books and screen prints. The first set is scheduled to be available for the solstice on 21st of June at via her new online store. The The Hidden Years zine is the first of the series, signed and numbered in an edition of 100, and includes a compilation of sketches from 2013 & 2014. Faith47 recently collaborated with world famous Die Antwoord by creating some backdrops for their new music video Pitbull Terrier. Painting in and around this abandoned building in Johannesburg, the South African artist created two works titled Escape and Escape This Place. Following the aggressive feel of both the song and the idea of the clip, the works show the big dog in a threatening pose, and an action image of the pitbull catching and killing a swan. Faith47 just shared this beautiful piece in Khayelitsha, Cape Town. Titled You Hold No Blame For My Proud Heart, the piece is shows two swans facing each other forming a heard shaped image. In her signature manner, the South African artist used watered out paint that dripped all over the wall as well as got soaked in, making the mural become one with the surface and the building it’s painted on.
