Recap / Videos: POW! WOW! Rotterdam

Last month, another POW! WOW! wrapped up in Rotterdam, their first event in Europe. POW! WOW! Rotterdam featured live music and a special exhibition in the HAKA building, but of course our focus is on the street art that was created at Keilewerf 1 and 2, an area that used to be an industrial part of the city. Along with artists from the Netherlands like Super A (seen above) and Telmo Miel (seen below), the international roster did their best to brighten up the grim concrete walls. […]

Previews: “LAX/PDX” Curated By Thinkspace @ Antler Gallery

On June 9th, a massive group show will open at Antler Gallery in Portland entitled LAX/PDX. The exhibition is the 13th iteration of an effective way Thinkspace shares their roster of artists around the world by curating exhibitions for their friends at different galleries. You can see a full list of the artists below and some preview images but a few things that caught our eyes included another shark from Josh Keyes (seen above), a timely piece from OakOak, Matthew Grabelsky taking his animals off the subway, Mark Dean […]

Streets World Roundup (Dec ’17 – Jan ’18)

It’s been a while since our last Streets World Roundup so it was a little hard to narrow down what to share with you but we did our best. Leading things off up top is a new installation placed briefly on Wallstreet in New York by Icy an Sot. The large wadded-up $1 bill in the Financial District represents greed and volatility of capitalism according to the Iranian art duo. Other worthy walls include work from: Dabs Myla (Australia), Aiko (Vietnam), JR (USA), Dragon76 (USA), Eduardo Kobra […]

Streets: Upfest 2017 (Bristol)

Last weekend saw 250 artists and an estimated 40,000 members of the public descend on Bristol’s Southville and Bedminster neighborhoods for Upfest. The event has grown into the largest annual painting festival in Europe since its inception in 2008 and this year’s installment included large-scale murals by Kobra, Eelus and Jody Thomas. Will Barras and Xenz collaborated on a new wall which is teeming with detail that draws the eye in and holds the viewer’s attention; utopian landscapes and opalescent butterflies are intertwined with timeless cosmonauts and […]

Streets: Fanakapan // Halloween Pumpkin Heads (London)

With Halloween in mind, Fanakapan put his special style to work creating some pumpkin head murals on the streets of London. The first piece (seen above) was a solo endeavor that once again highlights the UK-based artist’s balloon animal technique with a creepy jack-o’-lantern. The second wall painted was a collaboration with AliHamish Campbell & Tom Blackford at Mile End Skate Park with a pumpkin-head skeleton as his contribution. Streets: World Roundup (Aug 1 – Sept 11)

With the end of another week of summer (good weather for outdoor mural painting), it’s time for another Streets World Roundup. Leading things off are these two murals seen above from Shok-1 and Marina Zumi for the Lollapalooza Berlin Festival. The public art is part of a program put together by Urban Nation to beautify the area up for the festival goers’ enjoyment as part of their art pavilon DREAMSCAPE. Other recent notable walls come from Bordalo II (Aruba), Sabek (Aruba), Seth Globepainter (China), Atlas (Russia), Aryz […]
