Streets: Blu for “Draw The Line Festival” (Italy)

Continuing to tear through Europe (Bologna, Palestra, Jesi, Krakow, Poznań, Fabriano, Cologne, Grottaglie, Valencia, Italy) at a torrid pace since March, Blu has hit up his home country again at the Draw The Line Festival in Campobasso, Italy. This new wall caused some initial controversy, of which the Italian street artist is not unfamiliar with after the MOCA incident, and features his views on war and a biting rendition of how the military produces their soldiers. More detailed views after the jump…

Streets: Shepard Fairey – Manhattan

Earlier this month, Shepard Fairey came and visited the Big Apple to work on a few projects (more on that later). In between his indoor sessions, he invited AM to tag along while he worked to beautify some legal spots in Manhattan. Many of you may recognize his classic wheat paste-ups, but Mr. Obey and his assistant Nick have expanded his outdoor tool-set to stenciling. Much like his giant Mandala Ornament mural and he stenciled in Miami and his WeHo Library wall in Los Angeles, he’s […]

Streets: Anthony Lister (Los Angeles) Part II

Following a poster campaign which focused on the subject of lost superheroes, Australia-born artist Anthony Lister (interviewed) has arrived in Los Angeles for a unique gallery exhibition which will take place this coming Friday at the HVW8 gallery. However, days before the exhibit, Lister went out on the streets and left his mark on the city with a large scale painting which combines his attraction to both graffiti culture and expressionism. Featuring a large and somewhat deformed face, the wall resembles his recent collaboration with […]

Streets: Blu & Ericailcane (Italy)

Do these two Italian street magicians never stop? After making a pit stop at the FAME Festival and the R.I.P.Arte Festival, Blu and Ericailcane are at it again – this time with a collaboration piece.  This looks like they are taking aim at a popular target – politician, bankers, and corporate types.  The octopus looks to be by Ericailcane and the rest by Blu. See the full mural as well as some in-progress shots after the jump…

Streets / Contests: Anthony Lister @ HVW8 Gallery

Congratulations to the winners of our last two signed Lister poster giveaways. For those that missed out, the final two versions have hit the streets including one that uses a side profile of Anthony Lister (interviewed) himself. The Aussie street artist is in town for a show focusing on the subject of lost superheros opening on Friday, July 29th at the HVW8 gallery in Los Angeles. The exhibition featuring artwork, murals, and custom t-shirts by Lister is presented by Junk Food Clothing and will mark the […]

Streets: Gaia (New York)

Gaia recently sent over some photos of a new mural he installed on the corner of Houston & Elizabeth in New York as part of the rag & bone houston/PROJECT.  Featuring his signature rooster as well as a complex background, the creative process and timelapse of the wall can be seen after the jump…

Phlegm: Squid Boat

Known for his penchant for painting murals of boats and creatures of the sea, for example Whale of a Time and The Harnessing of Giant Squids, Phlegm has taken it to the next level and painted an actual boat. The effect is quite striking when seen half submerged and makes us want to see how the mural on the jet he painted would look in the air. More pics after the jump…

Streets: Blu & Escif (Spain)

It looks like Spanish street artist Escif, who recently hit up San Francisco with his friend San, has changed tag team partners. This time it’s prolific street satirist Blu, who recently himself was working with Ericailcane in Italy at the FAME Festival. So, back to the story at hand – the duo painted up adjacent multi-story buildings in Valencia – Escif with a stop motion falling car and Blu with what looks like Moses (with snakes for a beard) bringing down the ten commandments (with […]

Streets: Vhils (Los Angeles) for Post No Bills

Yesterday, Portuguese-born artist Vhils, who’s known for creating works of art directly into surfaces, visited the Post No Bills gallery space and sketched his signature style onto an adjacent wall. Utilizing his trademark tools such as drills and hammers, he produced yet another amazing work of art that continues to place him among one of the most interesting and creative artists working in the scene right now. This new work of art goes hand in hand with the upcoming exhibit that will take place at […]
