Studio Visits: Greg Simkins – “Beyond Shadows” @ KP Projects // MKG & Launch LA

Leading up to his show opening tomorrow night at KP Projects // MKG, we had a chance to take a peek at Greg “Craola” Simkins (featured) prepping for the show in his studio. Entitled Beyond Shadows, the new solo will include detailed works focused on his surreal characters, some “drip script” pieces, and some new paintings of his favorite switchblade Stab E. Mack. Continuing his long term collaboration with KP Projects // MKG, Greg “Craola” Simkins (featured) will be opening his latest exhibition at the West Hollywood gallery on May 21st. Greg “Craola” Simkins – “Stormy Knight” Skateboard

This seems to be an appropriate time to remind people of the collaboration between Greg “Craola” Simkins (featured) and 500 Skateboards seeing as tonight is when the Force Awakens. The full specs can be found here, but each cruiser collab, which the Los Angeles-based artist entitled Stormy Knight, comes with a COA and is produced in an edition of 500. Last week, Unit London hosted the opening of a group show curated by the founder of Paintguide, Henrik Uldalen. Along with his work, other artists who were invited in the past to take over the art sharing Instagram account also contributed to the exhibition. On November 27th, a group exhibition organized by Henrik Uldalen, the founder of Paintguide on Instagram, will open at Unit London. One can say the Norwegian oil painter’s success has come in part because of social media, something that more and more collectors are using to find and purchase artwork. Halloween is barely over and Greg “Craola” Simkins (featured) is already looking to Thanksgiving, or did he just combine both? The Gobbler is a 20″ x 20″ print just released by the Los Angeles-based artist and is a fine example of his surrealistic artistic vision. Yesterday, AM had the opportunity to stop by the Long Beach Museum of Art (LBMA) for what’s shaping up to be an epic exhibition. Put on in collaboration by Thinkspace Gallery, the people behind POW! WOW!, and LBMA, the main attraction of Vitality and Verve: Transforming the Urban Landscape are the on site installations and murals.
