One of the most interesting things about curating a group exhibition of over 100 artists is getting to see behind the scenes as the artists develop their work for the show (Chloe Early seen above). Following our recently curated group exhibitions in Hong Kong; East West Connect and Los Angeles; City of Fire, AM’s UK correspondent Sven Davis has branched out with his own curatorial endeavour Space//Form. The group exhibition brings together over 100 young contemporary artists, and opens 6th September at Portland’s Breeze Block Gallery. The Anonymous Gallery kicked off their Mexico City location with a bang with a recently closed group show – Fresh Kills. The title of the showing refers to the 2,200 acres in New York known as Fresh Kills Landfill that will be converted to a huge public park over the course of the next 30 years. The other night, we attended a great event held at the Wooster St. Social Club for Aidan Has A Posse, a website raising funds for and awareness about Aidan Seeger. Aidan is a young boy who has Adrenoleukodystrophy   (ALD), a rare neurological disorder. A while back, AM attended the opening of the group show Flash curated by Anonymous Gallery. Hosted at Wooster Street Social Club, the exhibition had many notables including as Anthony Lister, Curtis Kulig, Dan Witz, Eric White, Greg Lamarche, Kenji Hirata, Kenzo Minami, James Jean, Logan Hicks, Nick Walker, Ron English, Shelter Serra and Tristan Eaton. PULSE Los Angeles ’11: Joshua Liner Gallery

After giving you an overview of the inaugural PULSE Los Angeles fair earlier in the week, we now focus in on a couple of the individual booths. First up is New York’s Joshua Liner Gallery, who was mainly representing Kris Kuksi and his intricate assemblages, Greg Lamarche (interviewed) who worked on a mural for the event, and Dave Kinsey who also painted an impressive wall at the Standard while in town. Openings: Greg Lamarche – “I Can See For Miles” @ Known Gallery

Last weekend, in addition to Haze’s work, the Known Gallery also featured the work of another New York-based artist – Greg Lamarche (interviewed). Entitled I Can See For Miles, the exhibition included eleven pieces in total highlighting the artist’s signature lettering and collage-like design. Also tying his graffiti roots to the gallery space, he painted one of the walls with black lettering that certainly helped remind the visitor where he came from. More photos after the jump…

Set to open alongside Greg Lamarche’s (interviewed) new body of work (previewed) tonight at the Known Gallery are the geometric constructs of NY graffiti legend Eric Haze. Entitled New Mathematics, the collection of originals feature his distinctive lines and shapes that his aesthetic has become synonymous with.
