Following in a long line of Sanrio themed group shows, the Hello Kitty 45th Anniversary Group Show opened last month at the Corey Helford Gallery in Los Angeles. Drawing on the talents of a large roster of artists, the exhibition features a varied selection of artwork inspired by the famous bowed feline. Releases: Hikari Shimoda – “Lonely Hero and Obake” Figures

In a few hours, Hikari Shimoda will be releasing her latest collaboration with APPortfolio – the Lonely Hero and Obake figures. Both versions Polaroid (full-color, run of 300, $488) and Birch (wood, run of 118, $1360) have been made available already at the Shanghai Toy Show with an online release slated for Apportfolio’s website on April 15th, 10:00pm GMT. If you attended any of the previous Supersonic Invitational shows, you know you’re in for a treat. We were unable to attend the reception last Saturday night at Spoke Art, but we met up with the curator/art blogger, Zach Tutor, earlier in the day for a look at all the artwork. Openings: London Art Fair 2012 (Part I)

On Tuesday, AM attended the opening of London Art Fair, an event that focuses on modern British and contemporary art, held at the Business Design Centre in Islington. In terms of overall presentation, the most attractive and cohesive booth for us this year is by London’s Hazlitt Holland-Hibbert, featuring works by Bridget Riley, Anthony Caro and Kenneth Armitage.
