Nychos For Volvo Art Session

Volvo Art Session is live art project taking place in Zurich’s main railway station that finds “selected Swiss and international artists applying their creativity to a Volvo car” The organizers of the event invited Nychos as one of the artists for their fourth year of the event. It’s been a long time coming and finally Swoon (interviewed) unveiled her massive installation at the Brooklyn Museum. Entitled Submerged Motherlands, this exhibition ties together many themes by the talented and dedicated artist from Red Hook. Openings: Doma – “Multiverse” @ Logo Galeria

After taking part in This is Not a Toy show (covered) curated by Pharrell Williams, the Argentine collective Doma recently opened an exhibition at Logo Galeria in Sao Paulo. Titled Multiverse, this is their first solo in Brazil, and a big step forward towards introducing their work to a wider crowd. Mark Dean Veca – “Le Poppy Den” @ David B. Smith Gallery

Last month, the David B. Smith Gallery gave Mark Dean Veca (interviewed) the go ahead to create a site specific installation in one of the rooms of their Denver showspace. Much like his showing last year at the Orange County Musuem of Art (covered), the LA-based artist created a space, dubbed Le Poppy Den this time, where attendees could be fully immersed in his signature “Toile de Jouy” like patterns. Aaron Li-Hill – “Here Now” @ Portsmouth Museum of Art

A couple weekends ago, the Portsmouth Museum of Art hosted a two day only event entitled Here Now. The showcase featured the work of Aaron Li-Hill and Judith Ann Braun, who both produced site specific installations. For his part, the New York-based Li-Hill created one of his kinetic fencer murals, augmented by a loosely constructed scaffold of material. Openings: Jeremy Fish – “Hunting Trophies” @ Mark Moore Gallery

Last night, Hunting Trophies opened at the Mark Moore Gallery, Jeremy Fish’s (featured) second solo with the Culver City space. Continue using custom shapes as his painting surface as well as elaborate frames with carvings, the pieces have a finished look about them and with the impeccable linework, appear almost produced in a factory. Previews / Installation: Swoon – “Submerged Motherlands” @ Brooklyn Museum

Coming up on April 11th, the Brooklyn Museum will be presenting a new large-scale installation from Swoon (interviewed), whom we just visited in studio earlier this year. Entitled Submerged Motherlands, the epic site-specific creation will be housed in the Iris and B. Thomas Canto recently created a futuristic installation inside of one of the rooms at the Vieux Panier Hotel in Marseilles. This small hotel is built in an old Corsican grocery shop, and it has five unique rooms, each designed in a different style by a contemporary artist for a period of one year.
