Streets: Deih (Istanbul)

Take a look at this sweet comic-inspired wall painted by Deih recently for the Mural Istanbul festival. The character rendered beautifully in vibrant colors by the Spanish artist seems to be doing something of cosmic significance. Other artists scheduled to take part in the event include Aryz, Canavar, Cins, Esk Reyn, Kristy, Levi, Nuka, Qbic, and Wicx. Take a look at more detailed images and in-progress shots below…

Streets: JR (Istanbul)

Last week, JR (interviewed) completed the latest installment of his ongoing project The Wrinkles Of The City in Turkey. The series which has seen the French artist paste up large scale photographs of the older citizens of various cities has already taken him to Cartagena, Shanghai, Los Angeles, Cuba, and Berlin since 2008. Upcoming: Robert Montgomery @ ISTANBUL’74

Tonight in Istanbul, Robert Montgomery will be opening his first solo show in Turkey at the cultural hub situated in Galatasaray and Karaköy – ISTANBUL’74. Featuring his watercolors and his iconic light installations, the exhibition will be kind of a mini-retrospective. For members, there will be an artist talk at Soho House on Friday at 7pm. Streets: Pejac (Istanbul)

Spanish artist Pejac (introduced) was recently in Istanbul where he created a triptych of pieces in Uskudar, the Asian part of Istanbul. The idea was to create an “eye trap” that will emphasize the strength and the illusion of the works by creating a sort of physical bond between them. Titled Lock, Poster and Shutters, the works where made between October 5th to 10th, using acrylic, sand paper and graphite.
