The Brandalism project started in 2012 in London when two friends, sick of the visual pollution of their city, spent five days reclaiming 36 billboards in five cities in the UK. Two years later, we saw reclamation of over 360 corporate advertising spaces with hand made original art works submitted by 40 international artists. After the exclusive press preview held on the 20th of August (covered), the 21st was day zero for Banksy’s newest and biggest show to date. From the early morning, locals started lining up for “locals only day,” the artist’s own initiative that offered 1,000 North Somerset people the chance to see and experience the it completely free – before its official opening. Along with main attractions (covered) of the fairground such as the game of tipping an anvil with a ping pong ball, sculptures and installations by Banksy scattered around the site, Dismaland has a large art gallery.
