Openings: Alex Gross – “Product Placement” @ Jonathan LeVine Gallery

Opening alongside Victor Castillo last month at Jonathan LeVine was Los Angeles-based artist Alex Gross (interviewed). Entitled Product Placement, the show presented a new series of paintings that expands on the themes from his prior work such as Consumption, Branding, Celebrity, Love and Mortality. Using refined strokes and techniques, Gross skillfully rendered mundane objects and mixed them into a world where luxury brands are the common focus of his alluring subjects. It’s also interesting to see the typographic examples of foreign elements in his compositions. We especially enjoyed the […]

On October 22nd, Josh Keyes (interviewed) will be unveiling his latest series of work at New York’s Jonathan LeVine Gallery. This wild shifting causes the merging bio-habitats, thus changing the migratory patterns of animals with the ensuing chaos depicted in renowned Keyes fashion. Expect much of the Portland-based painter’s classic imagery as this show brings back many of […]

Continuing with our coverage of Jonathan LeVine Gallery’s massive kick off of the new art season, AM brings you Mark Dean Veca’s “As Cold As They Come.” This psychedelic body of work continues where his last show “Paintings, Wall Drawings, and Collaborations” left off (covered/interviewed). He even had time to sneak in […]

Invader will be having a solo show at Jonathan Levine Gallery at the end of June. Here’s a little video preview of his trademark “Rubickubism” process and a piece that will be at the show. Not only does the new site showcase their current/future shows and feature their blog, but it also sports a new “backroom” section with selected works from a […]
