Germany got a healthy dosage of JR with his recent opening at Duesseldorf’s Gallery Springmann.Varol. The latest exhibition in JR’s “Women Are Heroes” project, (previously seen in Paris and London) had much of the town buzzing. The gorgeous gallery was a great space for the French street photographer to showcase his talents. Both the inside and outside were fully utilized by the artist’s signature photo paste-ups. As teased, JR created another phenomenal wall installation consisting of 128 “speaker eyes” similar to the one we experienced at the […]

Looks like intrepid traveler, JR, added Abu Dhabi on the list of places he has visited with his street photography. To coincide with the annual Abu Dhabi Art Fair, the french wheatpaster was asked to create a large scale installation for the increasingly art-infused capital of the arab emirate. AM stopped by the Nuit Blanche festival in Paris and got to catch the tail end of JR and crew wheat pasting their ginormous photo installations for his “Women are Heroes” (previewed) show which is part of his 28 Millimetre project (We were wondering how he got to the lower parts of the bridges). We also took in the city via boat to tour the streets to enjoy the photographic installations that graced many parts of the “City of Love.” As mentioned previously, this phase […]
Vernissage TV posted up a rare interview with JR about his “Women are Heroes” project in Paris that we told you about earlier. Included is some nice footage of the project that coincided with this year’s Nuit Blanche and really shows the impressive scale of JR’s vision. JR also developed a […]
