Teaser: POW WOW 2012 (Hawaii)

In a couple weeks, the AM crew will be heading over Hawaii to this year’s POW WOW. Curated by Jasper Wong and hosted by Loft In Space / Fresh Cafe in Oahu, the art retreat will feature a extensive lineup of artists painting the surrounding industrial district of Kaka’ako. Openings: “Making Faces” @ Opera Gallery (NYC)

Last Thursday, New York’s Opera Gallery held an opening for their latest show entitled Making Faces. Ludo in Paris. Fake xray ads.

Streets: World Roundup (Dec 12 – Dec 18)

To start off our summary of walls this week, we get news that Ludo has been in Paris getting some new fake xray ads like this piece with a hand skeleton seen inside a mosquito. Teaser / Video: Kid Zoom for “Young & Free” @ 941 Geary

Kid Zoom, whom we last caught up with at his New York solo show, was recently featured in a video by Kingbrown Magazine. The detailed footage captures his can control and skills with spray paint quite well and will give you an idea of what to expect for the Young & Free show opening in San Francisco on September 10th at the 941 Geary. Last night, AM attended the opening party for the South Park Art Gallery (previewed). Hosted by Comedy Central & Opera Gallery, the exhibition invited 15 artists to reinterpret their favorite character or moments from the iconic South Park animated series which is celebrating it’s 15th anniversary. Openings: Kid Zoom – “This City Will Eat Me Alive” @ Opera (NYC Pop-Up)

AM recently caught the opening night of Kid Zoom’s first ever US solo show This City Will Eat Me Alive. The large pop-up space opened by the Opera Gallery in the the hip meat packing district was a great setting to showcase KZ’s large size paintings. Just as we previewed in our recent studio visit, Kid Zoom utilized his signature spray techniques to create the works that delighted fans who made it out to see this body of work. This Saturday, December 11th (7pm), Kid Zoom is having his first ever US solo at a pop-up space (72 Gansevoort St. New York, NY 10014) in Manhattan’s Meatpacking district.
