Tomorrow night (October 5th) in Los Angeles, KP Projects will be opening a solo show from Johnny Rodriguez (aka KMNDZ) entitled Year of Atomic Bird. This Saturday (December 1st), Giant Robot 2 will be opening another iteration of their long running annual show featuring artists creating works on Post-It notes (or some approximation of those ubiquitous sticky notes). Curated by Mark Todd, Esther Pearl Watson & Eric Nakamura (interviewed), Post It Show 14 will feature over 400 artists and 3,000+ art pieces. Included in the exhibition are Johnny “KMNDZ” Rodriguez, JP Naeng, Jean-Pierre Arboleda, Melany Meza-Dierks, and Audrey Kawasaki (interviewed), who contributed the stunning new geisha painting seen above among other works. After showing with Merry Karnowsky in 2012 (covered), Johnny Rodriguez (aka KMNDZ) will be back on February 7th with another solo show. I’d Rather Love You will feature imagery that we have come to love from the Los Angeles-based artist featuring an interplay of intricately detailed birds, bombs, flowers, jewels, numerology and other paraphernalia rendered in a rust-colored palette. In the works is also a massive 8 feet painting that will serve as the centerpiece of the exhibition. Discuss KMNDZ here.

Over the weekend, the Merry Karnowsky Gallery in Los Angeles showcased work from artists that they will work with in the future with a group show entitled Praeteritum Nunc Futurum. Listed officially were artists like Greg Simkins (seen above), Todd Carpenter, devNgosha, Andrew Hem, KMNDZ, Travis Louie, Nathan Ota, Lezley Saar, Jeff Soto, Nicola Verlato, Edward Walton Wilcox, Mark Whalen, William Wray but pieces from others could be seen as well.
