August in NYC is not typically the time to see great new art, as galleries tend to schedule group shows in order not to waste their A material on the few gallery goers left in town instead of summering in the Hamptons. Past experience, however, has shown us that the Joshua Liner Gallery defies expectations with their summer show, taking the opportunity to set the stage for their upcoming season, by exhibiting a strong selection of their regular roster and introducing us to a few […]

Part of the fun of going to the big art fairs like Art Basel is also going to all the satellite fairs, and one of our favorites is always Scope. Like in Miami and NYC, Scope Basel gave us a chance to see emerging and mid-career artists that are generally not represented at the main fair. Check out our images from Scope Basel, after the jump.
After great shows in San Francisco (covered) and New York (covered), it’s about time that master sculptor Kris Kuksi flexes his muscles across the ocean. Joshua Liner Gallery will host Kris Kuski’s latest body of work to be exhibited at Scope Art Fair at this year’s Basel Week in Switzerland. Look for AM to give you an on-site look at this year’s Basel Week from Switzerland. Discuss Kris Kuksi here. Join Kris Kuksi’s facebook fanpage here.
AM recently attended the opening for Kris Kuksi and Christy Langer’s “Meticulous Engagements” (previewed) at the Shooting Gallery in San Francisco. Langer, who first caught our eye at Basel last year and is pictured above, brought a nice mix of large and small resin sculptures, examining the violence and fragility of nature. Kuksi’s works were as impressive as always and though we took plenty of detail pictures, they really need to be seen in person to be believed. “Meticulous Engagements” ends in two days, the […]
Kris Kuksi (covered) sent us some teaser images of two of the pieces he’ll have in his upcoming show with sculptor Christy Langer (previewed). Kris, who’s known to work furiously till the last minute making modifications to his elaborate and ornate assemblages, very well may have changed the pieces you see here by the time this goes to press; however, if this is any indication of what to expect from the artist, we’re rather excited to say the least. “Meticulous Engagements” will mark the two […]
Sculptor Christy Langer sent AM an exclusive preview of a couple of her new pieces that will be featured in the upcoming “Meticulous Engagements” show coming soon to the Shooting Gallery. Showing with Kris Kuksi (featured), Langer’s resin, fiberglass and oil painted animals appear to be the perfect compliment to Kuksi’s minutia assemblages. Stay tuned for a preview from Kuksi as well as the show approaches. Check out the full preview after the jump.
Another great group show opens this Friday, March 12th in Seattle at the Roq La Rue gallery. Take a look at some more preview images after […]
One of the booths we were really impressed with during Art Basel Week was Joshua Liner Gallery’s showcase at SCOPE. It was a diverse group reflecting some of his successes this year from represented artists such as Matsu (interviewed), Kris Kuksi, and Evan Hecox. In addition, the show offered a sneak preview of the tremendous talent in stored for the coming year with works by Dave Kinsey, Dave Kassan, Tony Kanali, Tiffany Bozik, and Travis Louie (interviewed. More images after the jump…
On a return trip to take in Kris Kuksi’s show “Beast Anthology” (covered) at Joshua Liner Gallery, we decided to take a quick video of one of the pieces to give you a better perspective of how incredibly detailed his work is. The piece we chose was “Plague Parade: Opus 2,” one of the larger pieces in the show at 42 x 62 x 16 inches. Take a look at all the mixed media assemblage goodness of this piece in the recorded footage above. Discuss […]
For this year’s Art Basel, Joshua Liner will be bringing art from a diverse group of artists including Cleon Peterson, David Kassan, Evan Hecox, James Roper, Kris Kuksi, Shawn Barber, Tiffany Bozic, Tomokazu Matsuyama (interviewed), Tony Curanaj, Travis Louie (interviewed), and Dave Kinsey (look at the fantastic piece above). If you have ever been to the Miami fairs in years past, you’ll know that Josh always puts on a good show. He’ll be at SCOPE this year so make sure you stop by to see […]
