Combine one of the most respected print production companies out there with an artist whose attention to detail is well-documented and the outcome of their collaboration is almost per-ordained to be incredible. Last week in Texas, the International Museum of Art and Science hosted a selection of fiberglass and silicone creations from Colin Christian (interviewed). Made up of a series of his signature cyber-erotic sculptures, Fast Forward features a body of work inspired by the Colin’s love for “sci-fi movies, pinup girls, anime, ambient electronic music, and author, H.P. Last weekend, the outdoor fields and indoor hanger Pima Art and Space Museum in Tucson, Arizona were the venues for the hand-painted vintage planes of The Boneyard Project: Return Trip. While in Seattle, we stopped by the Roq La Rue Gallery to check out the newest solo show from Nicoletta Ceccoli (interviewed). Girls Don’t Cry continues the San Marino-based artist’s series of paintings featuring young girls in precarious fairy-tale like situations, all rendered beautifully in her soft palette and touch. In about a month, post-industrial Rococo master Kris Kuksi will be bringing his dark and intricate assemblages to New York for his latest solo exhibition. Entitled Triumph, the return showing (last time was in 2009 not counting art fairs) at the Joshua Liner Gallery will include the piece seen above, The Surrender of Helios. Conjoined II, a followup to last year’s successful debut as a group show, recently opened at the Copro Gallery in Santa Monica. Once again, Chet Zar’s (interviewed) was tapped to bring together a selection of sculptural work from his friends and peers, which mostly focused on objects of the bizarre, fantastic, and surreal. Perhaps the pieces that received the most attention were these two eerie 3D renderings by Kevin Kirkpatrick of Beavis and Butt-head. More photos by Richard Brooks for Arrested Motion after the jump…
