Previews: “1st Annual Spring Group Exhibition” @ Baker + Hesseldenz Design

This Saturday night in Tucson, Arizona, Baker + Hesseldenz Design will be opening their 1st Annual Spring Group Exhibition. Featuring a respectable roster of familiar names as well as some new ones, the show includes work from Van Arno, Fabio d’Aroma, Mark Elliot, Frank Forte, Naoto Hattori, Fay Helfer, Michael Hussar, Hanna Jaeun, Tracy Lewis, Kathie Olivas, Brandt Peters, Roland Tamayo, Kristin Tercek, Helice Wen, and Yoskay Yamamoto (seen above).      

Previews: “Japanese Human Sensors” @ Jonathan LeVine Gallery

This Saturday night, April 4th, at Jonathan LeVine Gallery (529 West 20th Street), a new group exhibition will be opening concurrently with ROA’s solo. Curated by Tokyo’s Gallery Kogure, Japanese Human Sensors will feature work from Fuco Ueda (seen above), Takahiro Hirabayashi, Takato Yamamoto, and Yuko Soi. Upcoming: Dan Quintana – “Spectres in Grey” @ Galerie Wolfsen

On April 11th, Galerie Wolfsen in Aalborg will be opening a solo show from Dan Quintana entitled Spectres in Grey. Judging from the few preview images show here, fans in Denmark will be in for a treat as the Los Angeles-based artist has created some beautifully rendered portraits steeped in the surreal. Upcoming: “One Page” @ Roq La Rue

Coinciding with Emerald City Comicon, Roq La Rue will hosting the opening of One Page tonight, March 27th. For four days only, on display will be contributions from artists based on a unique concept of producing a one page comic with a short story. Releases: James Jean – “Horse IV” Print

New week, James Jean (interviewed) will be offering up another beauty of a print on his online webstore. Entitled Horse IV, the timed release will be available 24 hours starting at 8:00 AM PDT on Tuesday, March 31st and ending at 7:59 AM PDT on April the 1st with edition size determined by the demand. Previews: Erik Jones – “Color|Full” @ Thinkspace

On March 28th, Thinkspace will be hosting a new solo from painter Erik Jones entitled Color | Full. As evidenced by his previous works, the NYC-based artist likes to combine his portraiture with graphic patterning, color blocking, and linear elements but this latest showing will take things a bit further. Along with some paintings created in the classic Jones style, there are also more exploratory pieces where he has delineated different planes in his imagery by bringing a sculptural aspect or dimensionality to his work.

Releases: Brendan Monroe x Raised by Wolves Capsule Collection

A new capsule collection from Raised by Wolves was recently released featuring the distinctive imagery of Brendan Monroe (interviewed). The hoodies, sweatshirts, and tees were imprinted with the Bay Area-based artist’s topographical linework and is available on a limited basis.
