Customs: Joe Ledbetter – Dissected Mutant Bunny

Ever since when he started in 2011, Joe Ledbetter has continually adding to his custom painted Mutant Bunny series (examples here, here, and here). Featuring arguably the Los Angeles-based artist’s most beloved character, each of these art objects have been painstakingly painted in creative manifestations of the original form, sometimes mirrored in paintings past or future. Fashion: James Jean x Big Bad Wolf Tee Release

Recap: Inka Essenhigh – “Comet Dust & Crystal Shards” @ Jacob Lewis Gallery

Jacob Lewis Gallery recently held it’s inaugural exhibition with New York artist Inka Essenhigh. Entitled Comet Dust & Crystal Shards, this new body of work was created over the span of a calendar year with the focus of seasons as inspiration of each composition. With her surreal touch and unique creative process of blending external and internal influences, Essenhigh again takes our breath away with a stunning series of magical paintings. Showing: Nicoletta Ceccoli – “Sweet & Low” @ AFA (New York)

Almost two years after her last show in New York, Nicoletta Ceccoli (interviewed) has unveiled new paintings at AFA NYC. Entitled Sweet & Low, the fresh body of work continues the exploration of her delicate female characters in a land of dessert. As seen commonly in the San Marino-based painter and illustrator’s work, the innocence of the setting is balanced by an undercurrent of dark themes seen when her imagery is examined more closely. Previews: Nate Frizzell – “Dark Was The Night” @ CHG Circa

This Saturday night in Los Angeles, Nate Frizzell (interviewed) will be presenting all new paintings at CHG Circa entitled Dark Was The Night. Working primarily with a black background, the new perspective referenced in the title of the show provides a stark new background that really make his imagery pop. The fresh pieces will continue to feature his portraiture of children and different wild creatures as well as his familiar exploration of identity thru the use of costumes. Recap: Esao Andrews – “Epilogues” @ Jonathan LeVine Gallery

Jonathan LeVine Gallery recently closed a successful solo show by Esao Andrews titled Epilogues. Releases: James Jean – “Seasons” Print

On November 18th, next Tuesday, starting at 8:00 AM PST, James Jean (interviewed) will be releasing another timed edition. Entitled Seasons, it will have an image size of 22.25 x 37″ and paper size of 24 x 40″, and will cost $200. After dipping their feet into the waters of the Denver art community with a mural a few months back (covered),  Mars-1, Damon Soule, and Oliver Vernon return tonight with a full plunge. Momentum at Space Gallery features the Furtherrr Collective together again (see 2012, 2013, 2013) with a showing that highlights how well their imagery go together – whether it is in collaborative pieces or collectively when their individual works are seen side by side.
