Last Friday, opening alongside CRG (covered) at Roq La Rue in Seattle was Peter Ferguson’s Fire In The Map Room! Dimly lit interiors and the moments right before dusk are exquisitely detailed in a muted color palette, with a style honed from his many years illustrating children’s books. On April 3rd, Camille Rose Garcia (interviewed) opened her latest solo show at Roq la Rue, titled La Danse Macabre, which translates to Dance of Death, a theme originated in the late middle ages to remind us that no one escapes the hand of death. On April 12th, Dorothy Circus Gallery in Rome will be hosting a new solo show from Naoto Hattori. Nothing But Perception will be the second exhibition with the gallery and will feature 11 brand new artworks from the Japanese artist. Releases: Jeff Soto – “Seeker Friends Elements: Life” Print

Earlier this year, we introduced you to the Seeker Friends Elements series from Jeff Soto (interviewed). A continuation of his Seeker Friends prints, the set of nine total timed editions will have a new addition, Life, on Thursday at noon PST, and will be available for 24 hours until noon PST on Friday after which no more will be sold. Sized at 6″ x 6″ on sustainable plywood, the new print will be available for $30 at the aforementioned time at Prints On Wood. Discuss Jeff Soto here.

Openings: Jeremy Fish – “Hunting Trophies” @ Mark Moore Gallery

Last night, Hunting Trophies opened at the Mark Moore Gallery, Jeremy Fish’s (featured) second solo with the Culver City space. Continue using custom shapes as his painting surface as well as elaborate frames with carvings, the pieces have a finished look about them and with the impeccable linework, appear almost produced in a factory. Berkeley-based painter & illustrator, Deth P. Sun, is set to open a show soon at the Leeds College of Art in the UK. Judging from the preview images here, the new body of work will include his signature whimsical cat-like character, rendered in various stages of its adventures. On April 5th, the Merry Karnowsky Gallery will be opening a show from Mark Whalen (as well as from Julian Meagher). Entitled Stranded, the new body of work from Whalen will include surreal paintings, his catalog of human activity – “playing, fighting, experimenting, creating, cultivating, dreaming, and destroying” – this time within confined interior spaces.
