Josh Keyes – “The Old Ones” / “Far Side of the World” Online Show

Earlier this week, Josh Keyes (interviewed) released images to the first installment of his Far Side of the World online show. The Old Ones sees the Portland-based artist explore the origins of the animals and creatures that inhabit his paintings, some larger than life. Continuing to explore a new style that takes his imagery clear to the edges, Keyes has put aside for now the organic cubism and isolated constructs that has been his calling card over the years. Showing: Johnson Tang – “Living Clay” @ Yingge Ceramics Museum

Currently on view through January 19th in Taiwan is an exhibition featuring the surreal sculptures of Johnson Tsang. Entitled Living Clay, the exhibition sees the Hong Kong-based ceramic artist present a full repertoire of works at the Yingge Ceramics Museum including his whimsical takes on functional objects with characters in fluid play with the forms. Along with these fun pieces, Tsang also tackles social political issues like war, violence, and the influence of media in our children. Take a look at more photos below… Via Colassal.

Openings: “Unpredictable Gravity” @ Roq La Rue

Last week, a group show to benefit cancer charities opened up at the Roq La Rue gallery in Seattle entitled Unpredictable Gravity. Raising over 20K so far, the success of the show is due in no small part to the efforts of curator Robbie Lowery and the stellar contributions from the artists.
