After an extensive tour around the world, with sweet murals dropped on every location, it seems that El Mac has settled down to work on a new body of indoor work. “The Humble and Sublime” will open October 14th at the Joshua Liner Gallery and will be his first show in New York. On Saturday night, AM attended the opening for Joshua Liner Gallery’s annual “Summer Show”. Apparently, so did many of the art loving New Yorkers that turned out to pack the house. Streets: Mac in Dublin

Mac, who we recently watched painting a mural in Culver City, posted up some pics of the work he did in Dublin. Since he is part Irish, these pieces were especially meaningful to him. The one above was done for the Kings of Concrete festival and based on a detail from a painting by Gabriel Max entitled “the Raising of Jairus’ Daughter” and is in reference to the simmering conflict still in Ireland. Basel Week Switzerland ’10: Volta6

The last fair we attended while in Switzerland was Volta6, and although it was way across town from Art Basel (covered, part 1 and 2) and Scope (covered), in a somewhat industrial part of the city, we were glad we made the trek. Unlike VoltaNY (covered), Volta6 was not focused on single-artist booths, so the smaller fair offered visitors a large range of interesting emerging artists.

You may remember seeing the in-process images of this mural we previewed a few weeks back. Well, here it is in its fully completed glory. Mac and Retna once again beautify Los Angeles with a spectacular piece of street art for one and all to enjoy. The mural is located on 3030 S La Cienega Blvd., right by some of the best galleries in California, so make it a art-filled day trip and check it out for yourselves. More images after the jump…

Those who came out for the Culver City Artwalk and ventured south of Washington on La Cienega encountered a very special treat. Two legends in graffiti, El Mac and Retna, were collaboratively painting a huge mural sponsored by Rivera & Rivera. The team, who have blessed walls from coast to coast–including many beautiful ones in Los Angeles already–worked into the night, unloading aerosol can after aerosol can on this piece.
