Basel Week Miami ’15 / Previews: “Urban Masters” @ Hausammann Gallery

On December 3rd (6-9pm), Hausammann Gallery in Miami (251 NW 23rd Street) will be holding the opening reception for Urban Masters. Openings: Beyond Eden 2015

Just this past weekend, the fifth and final edition of Beyond Eden was held at the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery at Barnsdall Park. The bulk of the artworks exhibited was seen at booths from C.A.V.E. Gallery (Venice, CA), Copro Gallery (Santa Monica, CA), Spoke Art (San Francisco, CA), Hashimoto Contempoary (San Francisco, CA) and event organizers Thinkspace (Culver City, CA). Also, both Mear One (interviewed) and Meggs had solo showcases hosted by the event and there was live painting from Steven Lopez, Gustavo Rimada, John Park and Joseph Lee on Saturday night. Previews: Beyond Eden 2015

Headlining our Rewind feature this time is a short film documenting Adam Neate’s (interviewed) time in Beijing where he joined street calligraphers in Beihai Park. Previews: Mear One – “Cognitive Dissonance” @ White Walls Gallery

This Saturday, July 11th, White Walls Gallery will be opening a solo from Mear One (interviewed) entitled Cognitive Dissonance. The new showing in San Francisco will feature a series of large oils and acrylics, some of which he has been working on and off on for the past several years. The new work is reflective of the murals he paints on the streets, highlighted by the socio-political injustices that he often references mixed with his interests in ancient cultures and human consciousness. Releases: Mear One – “Transformanation” Print

Later today, at 11am PST, Static Medium will be releasing a new print from Los Angeles street legend Mear One (interviewed) entitled Transformation. Each print is embellished with hand painted details, sized at 18″x18″ image on 20″x22″ sheet, and cost $90.00 (postage $15 USA, $25 INT’L). The release will be timed sale lasting 24 hours with the edition size determined by how many are bought. Streets: Mear One (Los Angeles)

Another day, another impressive mural from Mear One (interviewed). This latest wall is located in Culver City and features some of the apocalyptical-illuminati imagery that is often seen in his work as well as puts the LA-based street artist’s top-notch technical skills on display. This piece was part of series of works in support for Prop 37 leading up to the election and the fight for labeling of genetically modified foods (see video below for more info). 2012 Election: #GoVote – November 6th

Rewind (Sept 24 – 30)

Leading things off this week is a video introducing the new Doggy Radio from Yoshitomo Nara.
