This weekend (October 3-4), the fifth and final edition of Beyond Eden will once again be hosted by the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery at Barnsdall Park. As with previous years, the event will feature galleries from around California exhibiting work from artists in the New Contemporary Art movement including C.A.V.E. Gallery (Venice, CA), Copro Gallery (Santa Monica, CA), Spoke Art (San Francisco, CA), Hashimoto Contempoary (San Francisco, CA) and event organizers Thinkspace (Culver City, CA).

In addition to the works on display from the participating galleries, both Mear One (interviewed) and Meggs will have solo showcases hosted by the event. Mear One will be bringing mostly works seen earlier this summer up north (covered) collectively entitled Cognitive Dissonance that deal with socio-political injustices mixed with his interests in ancient cultures and human consciousness. Meggs will have an installation, mural, as well as paintings on offer that highlight the Australian artist’s witty and comic-inspired imagery.

Live painting demonstrations on the gallery’s balcony will also be taking place during the opening reception on Saturday night from Steven Lopez, Gustavo Rimada, John Park and Joseph Lee. Admission will be $5 and all the events will be open to the public 6-11 pm on Saturday and Noon-5pm on Sunday.
