Basel Week Miami ’16 / Upcoming: Larry Gagosian x Jeffrey Deitch – “DESIRE” @ Moore Building

Following up on their collaboration on a exhibition (covered) for Basel Week Miami last year, art dealers Larry Gagosian and Jeffrey Deitch will be teaming up a new group exhibition entitled DESIRE at the Moore Building (191 NE 40th Street). Curated by Diana Widmaier-Picasso, the show will “explore modern and contemporary approaches to eroticism in art” and feature a impressive roster of artists. Basel Week Miami ’16 / Upcoming: Jose Parla – “Roots” @ YoungArts Jewel Box

Another must-see show to add to your Basel Week Miami itinerary is Jose Parla’s site specific installation at the YoungArts Jewel Box (2100 Biscayne Boulevard). Entitled Roots, the commissioned paintings and sculpture are part of the Rolls-Royce art program and will see the Brooklyn-based Cuban-American artist’s return to the locale of his formative years in the 1980s and early 90s. Curated by Laurie Ann Farrell of the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), the exhibition will travel to a museum there in 2017. Basel Week Miami ’16 / Upcoming: Tim Biskup – “The Dog” Art Bar

For this year’s Basel Week Miami, Tim Biskup (featured) will be working on a project called The Dog. (1306 North Miami Ave). The bar, dancehall, and art gallery rolled into one will feature site-specific work from the Southern California-basd artist outside and inside the space with artwork and editions available for those interested. Continuing his Whole Glory project, Scott Campbell will be bringing the concept to Basel Week Miami at the Juxtapoz Clubhouse (2400 NW 5th Street). Basel Week Miami ’15 / Streets: Nychos

Another artist that left their mark on the streets during Basel Week Miami last year was anatomical enthusiast Nychos. The Austrian artist celebrated his birthday during the week of art festivities by leaving this burner behind in Wynwood Cafe entitled Strike Eagle, finishing despite being stopped by the police for a few days. Basel Week Miami ’15 / Streets: Space 52 Project

After a first look last week at the Space 52 Project curated by Tristan Eaton during Basel Week Miami with a new mural from Esao Andrews featuring Bob Dylan, we now have shots of what the rest of the artists did. Each participant painted a musical icon as part of a 240 foot mural in the heart of the Wynwood Arts District including the lead Eaton (Afrika Bambaataa), Askew (Billie Holiday), Stephen Bliss (Debbie Harry), Cyrcle.
