Preview: Marco Mazzoni – “Il Ricordo è Un Consolatore Molesto”@ Galleria Patricia Armocida

Italian artist Marco Mazzoni is currently preparing a solo show with Galleria Patricia Armocida in Milan, Italy, opening on the 19th of February 2013. With fifteen new medium-scale colored pencil paper drawings, twelve Moleskin paper drawings, and a site-specific installation, his 1st solo show in the city he lives and works in, will be one of his biggest to date. Showing: Michael Johansson – “Still Lifes” @ Flat Gallery

Currently showing at the Flat Gallery in Milan is a solo from Sweden-based artist Michael Johansson entitled Still Lifes. On view through February 24th, the exhibition features a continuation of the conceptual artist’s three-dimensional work that deals with ideas of space and form. The re-purposing of everyday objects into perfect cubes (among other sculptural installations) arranged by different hues strikes a visually intriguing balance throughout the showspace. Look for upcoming shows at the Konsthallen Trollhättan in Sweden and Vigeland-museet in Norway. Via Designboom.

Openings: Dennis McNett x Swoon x Monica Canilao @ Galleria Patricia Armocida

Earlier this month Dennis McNett (featured), Swoon (interviewed) and Monica Canilao opened a brand new exhibition entitled The Folding of a Known World at Galleria Patricia Armocida. The trio of US-based artists traveled to Milan to work together on creating fresh collaborative installations filled with their signature styles and techniques. McNett sent us some photos documenting their progress as they slaved away in Italy as well as some final shots of the fruits of their labor. Check it all out after the jump.

Openings: Gary Baseman – “Vicious” @ Antonio Colombo Arte Contemporanea

Los Angeles-based artist Gary Baseman (featured) recently traveled to Milan for the opening of his solo show at the Antonio Colombo Arte Contemporanea. Featuring thirty new works (drawing and paintings), the new body of work entitled Vicious was enjoyed by his many Italian fans who attended the artist reception where Baseman happily greeted and sketched for some of his admirers. Next month, Gary Baseman (featured) will be traveling to Milan for his latest solo show to be held at Antonio Colombo Arte Contemporanea. Openings: Mike Giant @ Antonio Colombo Arte Contemporanea – Milan

Following his successful show last year at France’s Magda Danysz (covered), Mike Giant returned to the EU to open his “Welcome to Frisco” show last Thursday night at Milan’s Antonio Colombo Arte Contemporanea.  Featuring his trademark clean lines and tattooed subjects, Giant’s showing looks to be a great introduction to the San Francisco aesthetic and culture for the Milanese people.
