Rewind: 2018

It’s time for another Rewind feature as we have saved up some art-related videos from the last year that might interest you. Leading things off is a closer look at KAWS collaboration with Dior for their Men’s Summer 2019 Show and his large scale BFF sculpture made with flowers. Other notable videos include: KAWS talks about his recent collaboration with Dior. Victor Castillo’s Hollywood Dreams. Mark Ryden talks more about the album cover he worked on for Michael Jackson. A look at a new mural from Faith47 […]

Openings: Art Nerd New York – “George Hearts Maria” @ Helium Cowboy

Our friends at Art Nerd New York recently invaded Hamburg, Germany for a special group show at Helium Cowboy. The exhibition entitled George Hearts Maria is themed around the tale of forbidden romance between the Prince George of Wales and commoner Maria Fitzherbert. While separated, they each had miniature eyes (of each other) painted so they could stare at them without getting caught by the royal family. Artists such as Allison Sommers, Beau Stannton, Ian Kuali’i, Jon Burgerman, Molly Crabapple, Ryan Brennan, Zac Braun and […]

Armory Week ’10: Scope New York

We attended the preview of Scope New York last Wednesday and visited the fair again on Saturday, and with the exception of stand-out booths by Anonymous, David B. Smith and newcomers Jackie Paper, found the fair to be somewhat disappointing overall. The show seemed small, not just relative to the enormous size of this year’s Armory Show, but compared with this year’s Scope Miami or last year’s Scope NY. And the overall selection and quality seemed to be down as well, with not a lot […]

Preview: “The Red Light Exhibit” @ The Dirty Show

A naughty little show is opening this Friday night (Feb 12th), appropriately we suppose, as Sunday is Valentine’s Day.  “The Red Light Exhibit” features a pretty nice lineup which includes Shawn Barber, Paul Booth, Scott G. Brooks, Vincent Castiglia, Colin Christian (interviewed), Molly Crabapple, Camilla D’Errico, Ewelina Ferusso, Michael Hussar, Michael Mararian, Dan Quintana, Celeste Rapone, David Stoupakis, The Dirty Fabulous, Brian Viveros, Tony Ward, & Jasmine Wort. Curated by Genevive Zacconi, in association with Last Rites Gallery, the show will be held at The […]

Dr. Sketchy Anti-Art School with Tara McPherson

We can’t seem to get enough of Tara McPherson and Molly Crabapple since drawing along side them at Baby Tattooville in the Riverside Art Museum (covered). So, AM decided to stop by and get in a little schooling with a special edition of NYC’s Dr. Sketchy’s Anti-Art School featuring none other than our friend Tara McPherson. For this special session a “life drawing” model was transformed into a beautiful & seductive “Lonely Heart” siren. More after the jump.

Openings: Molly Crabapple @ Pixel Show – Sao Paulo (Brazil)

Right after we hung out with Molly Crabapple at Baby Tattooville, she jetted her way down to the southern hemisphere to attend the Pixel Show in Sao Paulo, Brazil (Oct 10th-11th). This unique multimedia art conference addresses many different aspects of art world including photography, illustration, street, fashion and film. Thousands of aspiring Latin American artisans attended the conference in search of inspiration from featured artists such as Ms. Crabapple. Ever the busy body, Molly made time to give a talk at the packed conference, interview with MTV and […]

Baby Tattooville ’09: Art Jam

If the artists at Baby Tattooville are the heart of the event, then the “Art Jam” is definitely the bloodline that is pumping throughout the event. Starting at 5pm on the opening day and lasting a little past 8pm the next night, “Art Jam” is a culmination of the all the participating artist’s hard work. Like in previous years, the blank canvas was tinkered with by a few brave artists during the initial dinner, but by the time midnight rolled around, one could clearly see […]

Dr. Sketchy Anti-Art School with David Stoupakis

It’s that time again. Dr. Sketchy’s Anti-Art School held another “artist session.” Last time it was Ron English (covered) and this time it was with David Stoupakis. As always, the place was packed to the brim with art enthusiasts waiting to get their eyes on the beautiful muse sensation Apprella. Check the hot pictures that Molly Crabapple sent to us after the jump…

Dr. Sketchy Anti-Art School with Ron English

On Valentine’s Day, Molly Crabapple invited AM to participate in a “life drawing” event called Dr. Sketchy’s Anti-Art School. The guest artist for this session was our friend Ron English. Our first thought was… “There’s going to be a bunch of hardcore artist types sitting with their easels circling a ‘neck-ed’ model. Well, we were wrong…” Dr. Sketchy was anything but… So being the “Anti-Art” school, they hosted the event at a burlesque bar crowded with beautiful people excited to socialize and channel their inner artist. The subject was Ron English’s famous “Cow […]

Gen Art Vanguard – Basel Party

Friday night ended with a bang at the OBEY x Z Trip party. But AM never told the tale of how this massive night of Basel parties started. The Gen Art Vanguard party was the Basel Friday night jumpoff where the “who’s who” of Miami were at. With heavy hitter sponsors such as FAGE, Citibank, and Bombay Sapphire footing the bill for drinks, Gen Art Vanguard was transformed into a true Miami mega event.  Stars and artists lined up to grab their VIP goodie bags while everyone else […]
