Streets: Wall Therapy Festival (Part II) – Faith47

A couple days ago, we shared with you the mural that DALeast painted for the Wall Therapy Festival in Rochester, New York. His partner in crime, Faith47 was also on hand as she painted her own wall for the event. The piece is entitled Rhapsody and features the religious iconography that is often seen in the South African street artist’s work. More detailed photos below… Discuss Faith47 here.

Releases: Futura x Hennessy VS Bottle Chase Pack @ Reed Space

Last night, Hennessy held a preview launch at New York’s Reed Space for their latest VS cognac bottle designed by Futura (seen here). This pop up event was announced via Hennessy’s twitter and exclusive to only the first 50 fans arriving at the location. The line was long, but worth the wait as each fan (over 21) was given a special Hennessy gift pack containing a signed bottle by the graffiti legend himself. Sheffiield-based street muralist Phlegm recently made a trip out to New York and it looks like he brought along instruments of his trade as he put up multiple murals in Manhattan at the Fulton housing project on West 17th. Featuring his intricate imagery, the pieces follow his characters as they handle enigmatic and complex contraptions and gadgets. Last week, New York’s New Museum opened a new exhibition entitled Ghost in the Machine. The survey contains over 140 works of art by over 70 artists which explore the relationship between humans, machines and art. Taking over all three main gallery rooms, it providee a unique look at the digital age and its influence/interaction on the artistic movement. Last month, the Jonathan LeVine Gallery in New York hosted an opening reception for surreal Sicilian artist Fulvio di Piazza (a previous subject of our Art Focus). Sculptor and photographer Jason deCaires Taylor recently made his premiere at Jonathan Levine Gallery with a solo exhibition entitled Human Nature. The British born artist who grew up with the coral reefs of Malaysia is known for taking his talents of altering environments to the ocean. Utilizing specialized PH neutral materials, Jason creates cement based sculptures and lays them in nature’s aquatic settings to create artificial reefs. Streets: Aiko Mural on Bowery & Houston (Part II)

Last week, we brought you the start of Aiko’s work on New York’s renowned Bowery & Houston mural location. Working through the course of several days the artist took her time to stencil and paint sections of the wall.
