Releases: Ron English – “American Depress” @ Kidrobot

Ron English (featured) recently created a new vinyl sculpture with toy maker Kidrobot for their ultra limited Kidrobot Black line. Entitled American Depress, the 12-inch figure depicts Ron’s version of a bloated Mickey Mouse ensnared in a Amex “Black Card” credit trap. Mr. English attended the launch event for a signing along with a meet and greet with fans at the KR’s New York location. Check out more photos below. Discuss Ron English here.    

Streets: Tom Fruin – “Watertower” (New York)

We recently came across this stunning new installation from Tom Fruin in New York entitled Watertower. The NY-based artist’s sculptural creation, which is visible from Lower Manhattan, FDR Drive, and the Manhattan & Brooklyn Bridges, is built from salvaged plexiglass and steel throughout NYC sourced from a wide range of materials including old sign shops to closed-down artist studios and various warehouses. For those who haven’t seen them yet, you have until June 30th to check out nine visually intriguing sculptures from Venezuelan-American artist Rafael Barrios in New York. ADAA ’12: Yoshitomo Nara – “Works on Paper” @ Pace Gallery

Several months ago at the ADAA Art Show, we caught some new work from Yoshitomo Nara as he made his solo fair debut with Pace Gallery.
