The solo exhibition Due Date by Brian Adam Douglas (interviewed) opened on Thursday 9 March to a full house at London’s Black Rat Projects. Douglas himself was fine form throughout the evening, chatting with visitors and signing copies of his new book, Paper cuts, published by Drago. Among the guests, AM spotted artists Peter Kennard, Matt Small (interviewed) and Giles Walker. After presenting AM readers with teasers, updates, studio visits/previews, and exhibition set-up posts on James Jean’s Rebus show, the moment of truth has finally arrived and the glorious payoff is in sight. Last Wednesday 2 March saw the opening of the Slinkachu solo exhibition, Concrete Ocean (initially mentioned by us in January), at London’s Andipa Gallery. There was a refreshingly mixed crowd in attendance, with a number of the regular faces at East End shows having dusted off their passports and made the trek over to Knightsbridge. To the gallery’s credit, the complimentary bar never ran out of alcohol, which helped maintain a cheerful atmosphere throughout the evening. As for the art itself, guest reception was enthusiastic. George Thompson, also known as EWOK, recently unveiled a solo exhibition of works at LA’s own Known Gallery. The show is centered around a world where the Ku Klux Klan plays competitive organized basketball. Although the artist has played with the idea before in pieces that have been included in group shows, he wanted to expand it further and continue the conversation in a full-scale exhibition. The weeks of setup for the POW WOW ’11 in Honolulu culminated in blowout showcase bringing together talent from different parts of the world. People all over Hawaii came to take part in the celebration where performance, photography, graffiti, and fine art intersected. AM got a chance to attend the opening of Art Machine at The Hole recently. The collaboration between the gallery and NY fashion collective ALIFE featured a special vending machine where artwork could be purchased and dispensed. We got there before the public was allowed in and watched the final “stocking” of the goods. Last Friday, Mallick Williams & CO opened their latest exhibition “Ink On Paper”. The collection of prints was from renowned Los Angeles-based master printer Richard Duardo. Pieces on display were classic examples from artists who have chosen in the past to collaborate with the Modern Multiples founder. Attendees enjoyed silkscreen gems from Dennis Hopper, Shepard Fairey, Retna, SABER and others. The show will run until Feb. 25th, so make it out if you can. Check out more after the jump.

With Part 2 of Psych Optic Black Light Fuzz, Dalek (interviewed) concluded his atypical, yet engaging dual exhibition at Hurley )( Space in Costa Mesa, CA, a stones throw away from where Part 1 (covered) was staged, in truly psychedelic fashion.
