Basel Week Miami ’16: Pulse Art Fair

This year’s edition of the Pulse Art Fair at Indian Beach Park once again proved the reputation of the fair as one of the worthy satellite fairs of Basel Week Miami. Patricia Piccinini – “Skywhale” Hot Air Balloon

Patricia Piccinini, the subject of one of our Art Focus features earlier this year, has taken to the skies with her latest work again showcasing her love for the grotesque and her strong imagination. The Skywhale hot air balloon was commissioned for the Centenary of Canberra, and will be floating by different locations in Australia the rest of the year. Art Focus: Patricia Piccinini

Our eyes were recently drawn to the work of Patricia Piccinini with a sculpture that is currently part of a group show (How To Tell The Future From The Past) at Haunch of Venison New York. Entitled The Carrier, the hyper-realistic piece from the multidisciplinary artist makes the viewer almost think it is real if not for the fantastical creature that is holding an elderly woman on its back.
