Earlier this past fall Paul Kasmin gallery hosted an exhibition featuring the works of contemporary art luminary Frank Stella. The solo show entitled Geometric Variations gave us a look at the colorful works and the iconic squares that helped define part of Stella’s reputation. Openings: Walton Ford – “I Don’t Like to Look at Him, Jack…” @ Paul Kasmin

Last Thursday, Walton Ford opened his latest exhibition at Paul Kasmin, entitled I Don’t Like to Look at Him, Jack. It Makes Me Think of that Awful Day on the Island. Taking its name from the 1933 film King Kong, the show includes three Kong-sized works on paper, capturing the beast in several facial expressions. Openings: David LaChapelle – “American Jesus” @ Paul Kasmin

Last Tuesday night, Paul Kasmin Gallery hosted the opening for David La Chapelle’s latest body of work “American Jesus.” We’re not sure if it’s the gallery or David’s following, but the space was jam-packed with onlookers gawking at David’s elaborate digitally rendered photos. Fans dressed up as if it was Halloween, mingling away, waiting to catch some time with the star artist, and much like last month’s crazy Mark Ryden opening, the action spilled into the adjacent streets.
