Releases: Mark Ryden – The Snow Yak Show Print Portfolio (Spectaculum Poefagorum Nivium)

For those Mark Ryden fans out there who have the bankroll, Porterhouse will be releasing a beautiful new print portfolio based on his Snow Yak show. The set will include all 10 images (eight paintings and two drawings) from the exhibition held in Japan in 2009 at the Tomio Koyama Gallery, come in an edition of 50, and cost you $4750. AM stopped by Paul Insect’s folio release event at Pictures on Walls last week to take a look at the ‘Unclear Residents‘ set. The evening presented a series of Paul’s screen-printed targets pasted about the walls, along with the selection of prints and a huge bank of page-spreads from the two limited zines available in the hand-made folio. Literally hot off the presses comes this new release from Remi/Rough – his first screenprint entitled ‘Phenomenology 0.1’. Bursting with vibrant colours, this hand pulled print comes in an edition of 50 copies and is published by Laura McNamara. We just came across Stephen Powers aka ESPO’s updated website, First and Fifteenth, this morning and saw that there is a host of back catalog goodness available, such as this ‘Superfeen‘ screenprint on plastic from 2002. They come from an edition of 300, but we assumed they were long sold out. One of our favorite images from Jeff Soto’s (featured) show (covered) last June at the Jonathan LeVine Gallery, “The Seeker” has is being released as a print. The painting depicts one of the art toys that Jeff released recently at SDCC, and would make a nice companion piece for any collector out there. Mark Ryden fans rejoice (especially those in the greater Los Angeles area). This Thursday, October 21st (8:00 a.m. PDT), Porterhouse will be releasing a limited edition (run of 500) lithograph of one of Ryden’s most beloved images – “The Tree of Life.” The reason? To commemorate the fact that the painting will be on exhibition in “The Artist’s Museum, Los Angeles Artists 1980-2010” show at The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles (MOCA) starting on October 31st.
